Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Found season 2, episode 2!Found season 2 has crafted a cat-and-mouse game between them as the protagonist tries bringing him to justice and saving her friend.
Speaking with Screen Rant, Gosselaar stated that, despite the assistance Sir had brought Gabi during Found season 1, he never played the character like he was seeking redemption. Instead, the actor played into his character's notion that him and his captive-turned-captor are meant to be together, something that continues to influence his actions in season 2. He also hinted at a potential change in dynamic during season 3, should the show be renewed later on. Check out what Gosselaar had to say below:
I would just ask the question, does Sir need redemption, or does he get redemption by doing these cases? And I think, and I say I think because I play the character this way, and NK [showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll] might have a different theory, but I play it as that he's not searching for redemption. That's not why he solves these cases and why he helps. It goes back to that connection. In Sir's head, he hasn't done anything wrong.
This was destiny, this relationship with Gabrielle. It hasn't gone the way that he wants and doesn't feel he's done anything wrong, really. The question of redemption, I don't think, ever crosses his mind. Again, it could change in season 3 and we're hopefully back in Atlanta filming another 22 episodes and things could change and then I'll have to pivot and go along with it. I'm along for the ride and whenever they throw at me. It's been great so far, and I feel so fortunate to be able to be a part of this journey with the entire cast and crew.
What Gosselaar's Statement Means For Sir & Gabi's Future In Found
Their Dynamics Could Continue To Evolve Throughout The Series
While Sir has been helpful during plenty of kidnapping cases throughout season 1, his newfound presence as Lacey's kidnapper makes it clear his dynamic with Gabi is never going back to how it was. However, his skewed perspective on their relations to one another makes it clear he sees his actions as righteous, clarifying the lengths he's willing to go in order to be with his previous victim. However, all he's done is put Gabi in a dark headspace, impacting her character development while dealing with the consequences of holding him captive in the first place.

Found Season 2's New Character Is Exactly What Moselys Needs After Gabi's Season 1 Finale Nightmare
Found is keeping the identity of its newest season 2 character under wraps, but whoever Danielle Savre plays is sure to shake up the series.
Gosselaar's statement makes it clear that, in his eyes, there's no redemption for everything Sir's done, even if he's managed to help Gabi on numerous occasions during her investigations. However, his mention of a potential Found season 3 could mean his dynamics with the lead investigator will alter every season, offering unique interactions between them as their tense story continues. Although there's no way of knowing how their relationship will evolve, Lacey still being in his grasp likely means nothing redemptive for the kidnapper's future.
Our Take On Sir's Future In Found Season 2
His Story Could Take Plenty Of Twists & Turns
Although it's unclear what Sir's long-term fate on Found is going to be, Gosselaar's hopes indicate his kidnapping of Lacey is still only the start of his dynamic role in the series. We think it's possible the story is building toward Gabi using him as an informant in a more professional capacity, possibly after he's imprisoned for his crimes. While there are many directions the series could take as his criminal activities continue, they're all guaranteed to be related to the friendship he wants to form with Gabi.
