Graphic novel adaptations of updates on book 4 of The Empyrean Series have been minimal since Onyx Storm's release, Yarros has given audiences some hope of getting more content for the series as the wait for that release date continues. Yarros announced in February 2025 that, once she had returned from a brief break, she would be working on a secret project that would involve The Empyrean Series, leaving us to speculate on what that project could be.
Recently, she finally broke her silence regarding the project through her Instagram, revealing that Ten Speed Graphic and Piakus would be working with Yarros on a graphic novelization of Fourth Wing. However, the most fascinating aspect of this project is that the graphic novel series will be six books long despite the fact that The Empyrean Series is only set to be five books. While some assume that Yarros may combine the series' bonus content, such as Xaden's bonus chapters, into that last book, I have a less orthodox idea of what it could be: a book featuring Broccoli's POV.
I Need A Fourth Wing Graphic Novel From Broccoli's POV, And I Know Exactly How It Can Happen
Broccoli's Book Could Showcase The Series' Happily Ever After
The final Fourth Wing graphic novel should be from Broccoli's perspective, giving audiences a bigger storyline with this newly popular character and showcasing the protagonists after the series' ending. Broccoli was one of the gifts from Zehyllna in Onyx Storm, all of which are likely to hint at or assist in Quest Squad's fate and actions for the remainder of the series. Even though he was only featured in one scene with his new owner Drake, Broccoli has become a fan-favorite, making him the perfect POV character to use for this last graphic novel.

"I Would Consider Doing A Bonus Scene": I Now Need Rebecca Yarros To Expand On One Of Onyx Storm's Best Relationships
During an interview on her Onyx Storm tour, Yarros confirms she'd consider revisiting one scene from a popular character's POV in Fourth Wing.
Broccoli could be a symbol of peace between Navarre and Poromiel, as Drake owns him but he is fond of Mira. If he is, then the final graphic novel could feature Broccoli rushing around Basgiath or Riorson House, allowing us to see the surviving characters post-series. We know through Jesinia that Fourth Wing ends somewhat happily, so Broccoli could let us see Violet, Xaden, and whomever else is still alive rebuilding after the war. As a bonus, Broccoli's POV could provide a fun contrast with the main books that would add one last great bit of comedy to the series.
Giving Readers Broccoli's Perspective Would Be A Hilarious Contrast To Being In The Dragons' Heads
Broccoli's Innocence Would Comedically Differ From The Dragon's Mindsets
By giving audiences Broccoli's perspective in the last Fourth Wing graphic novel, Yarros could create a great parallel between the tabby cat's innocent outlook and the sarcastic dragons we have seen throughout the series. Rhiannon and Imogen's POV's in Onyx Storm showcased that draconic sarcasm is not limited to just Tairn, Andarna, and Sgaeyl, as Feirge and Glane share this trait. Since The Empyrean Series, his POV could be a great opportunity to see the series' world through more innocent eyes than the battle-hardened creatures we have seen so far.
If Broccoli can communicate with the dragons in any way, the comedy would also shine through as a dragon like Tairn may not know how to react to the tabby's antics.
Broccoli's innocent mindset could also allow for some great moments of humor between him, the humans, and the dragons. Broccoli's mischief could be discovered by one of the characters, leading to a humor-filled chase or moment of levity. If Broccoli can communicate with the dragons in any way, the comedy would also shine through as a dragon like Tairn may not know how to react to the tabby's antics. Either way, I am excited to see what the Fourth Wing graphic novels have in store and, perhaps, to see more of Broccoli as the series' intense plotline continues.
