Friends might be a hilarious Lies are typically the main problem that gets everybody into trouble.
Ross definitely causes a lot of problems in the friend group on the show, especially with anyone he's in a relationship with. For some reason, he gets himself into trouble by avoiding the truth, or worse, opening his big mouth to say the dumbest thing ever. Although many fans love Ross and his sweet demeanor, he lies to people a lot, which leads him into more trouble.
About Sleeping With Chloe
This lie is well known by all fans for its troubling results. Ross thinks it's absolutely necessary to lie to Rachel about how he hooks up with this girl he meets, even trying to get Gunther to shut his mouth.
Yes, it was going to be bad either way once Rachel had found out he slept with someone on their so-called "break." But running around to try to cover up all the tracks just makes it more painful for the broken-hearted Rachel.
The Rumor From The "I Hate Rachel Green" Club
Way to go, Ross. While this lie isn't one of those held-back-information lies, it's a fabricated rumor about Rachel that he and Will created back in high school.
After crushing on Rachel for a long, long time, he apparently thought it would be best to create a rumor about Rachel, inappropriately using the rumor so that she could be bullied. Gone are the days when "boys will be boys" and "kids will be kids" because rumors like that are not acceptable.
That He Read Rachel's 18-Page Letter
Rachel certainly writes a whole lot in this letter, but lying to her crumbles their chances of mending their relationship.
If only he would have read the letter and actually absorbed her feelings, Ross could have formed his own opinion, and therefore, his own decision regarding their relationship. Breaking up with Bonnie is clearly a false move since he doesn't fully consider what Rachel really feels.
That He Was "Fine"
Although the scene is absolutely hilarious, the lie isn't necessary because of how hurt Joey and Rachel know he is. Walking in to see his friend and his ex-girlfriend (and not just any ex since he loves Rachel) making out is traumatic for him.
Ross's automatic reaction is shock, followed by his ongoing lie that he's totally cool with his two friends being romantically involved. Getting drunk later in front of Charlie only leads to everybody feeling uncomfortable with his obvious jealousy and discomfort. If he just would tell his friends the truth, that could have saved them all a lot of awkwardness.
That He Finished The Annulment
Many fans—and even Ross haters—agree that this lie is, by far, his worst. The lie is essentially Ross holding Rachel into their unintentional marriage all because he doesn't want to have a reputation of a constantly divorced dude.
Once he tells Phoebe that whoops, "we're still married," fans still feel to this day that his lie is a serious violation of trust with Rachel. It's shocking that after this she trusts him to get back together with him in the finale.
His Discomfort With Bonnie's Shaved Head
Aside from how shallow that is, Ross doesn't need to lie to her about the new look. Ross could at least just tell Bonnie that he already liked her just the way she was (to sound incredibly cliche, yet nice for the most part).
However, his lie to her face just adds to his discomfort in looking at her bald head. He doesn't even try to open his mind to accept his girlfriend.
That He Kept The Accidental Sex Tape
Fans will come to Ross's rescue to say that the tape was not intentional as he completely forgot that the camera was on when Rachel had walked into the room. However, not deleting it is definitely strange of him. At the very least, some say he could have deleted the part when the two hooked up and just kept the beginning of the tape with Rachel supposedly "initiating" the hookup (unintentionally on her part).
Nevertheless, Ross keeps the tape and itting that he still has it conveys a pretty violating side to him. Lying about how he's kept it all this time just makes it worse.
That He Wasn't Jealous Of Rachel Dating
Specifically, after Emma is born, Rachel thinks Ross no longer harbors feelings for her anymore. So, she goes to an event with Phoebe and casually talks to a guy and gets his number. It's barely a flirtatious moment, but Ross takes it seriously.
Ross hides the guy's calls from her and hints that she just can't wait to date boys now. Not only is Ross's ingrained jealousy super toxic, but his lie interferes with her personal life—and she isn't even seriously dating anyone at this point!
Hiding Rachel From Mona In His Apartment
Now, this situation is the epitome of the word, "awkward!" Not only does Ross lie to Mona about how his ex-girlfriend (pregnant, no less) is living with him, he also lies to Rachel that he's lying to Mona (double the lies).

The worse part of this lie is that Mona finds out about it on Valentine's Day! Talk about a serious letdown letting his pregnant ex live there without having even told his current girlfriend. Some will say that Mona should dictate their pregnancy, but she at least should have been informed.
That Chandler Was The One That Smoked Weed
This is not to refer to his original lie from years ago when he was smoking weed in college and lied to his parents about it. Ross lies again now to his parents, and even forces Monica to keep up the lie.
Ross's desperate attempts to maintain his lie to his parents only results in a fight with Monica and ruins Thanksgiving. Once he finally its that he was the one who was smoking, he and his sister yell out all the things they lied about to their parents. Lying just never ends up helping anybody.
