Version 1.3 of Genshin Impact will be arriving soon, and the latest details on the new update were shared by developer miHoYo last week. Thanks to the latest official livestream, fans now know which characters will be playable, what new Events are coming, and which changes to expect when 1.3 finally arrives in February.
Of course, as with any Genshin Impact update, many fans are looking for new playable characters. Surprisingly, Version 1.3 only has Xiao confirmed as a 5-star Banner character. This is pretty shocking, since other versions of the game provided at least two new characters over the course of its six-week run. It's always possible another playable character will be included, like the long-rumored Hu Tao, but perhaps they just haven't been announced yet.
Xiao is an Anemo who wields polearms in battle. In addition to being the latest playable character, he'll also have his own story quests. The main story content of Genshin Impact Version 1.3 will focus on the Lantern Rite Festival in Liyue. In addition to story and characters, Genshin Impact's 1.3 update will add a number of new features, including pre-installation for mobile s, buffs to Zhongli, and long-awaited changes to Resin. These are all features fan have been asking for, so it's great to see them included in the new update. However, there are also a lot of new events coming to Version 1.3 as well.
New Events In Genshin Impact 1.3
There are a number of notable events in Genshin Impact 1.3, including Lantern Rite - Xiao Market, which allows players to get new nameplates, rare Crowns of Insight (which are needed for Character Ascension), and Dust of Azoth. Another event, May Fortune Find You, is a log-in bonus that will allow players to collect Intertwined Fate over a period of seven days. These Intertwined Fates are used for Wishes, which means they're very valuable and highly sought-after.
Arguably the most exciting new event is Stand By Me, which allows players to choose one new 4-star Genshin Impact character to add to their roster. These characters are Ningguang, Beidou, Xiangling, Xingqui, Congyun, and Xinyan. Since Xiangling was already available for free, players may want to choose someone else. Either way, completing a string of challenges for this event will allow fans to choose a new character without spending Fates or Primogems - which is always nice in Genshin Impact.
Overall, Genshin Impact Version 1.3 appears to be fairly small compared to previous updates. 1.1 came with four new characters, and 1.2 came with the new Dragonspine region and two playable characters. So, 1.3's arrival with only Xiao and some new events and improvements isn't exactly the massive update some fans may have been hoping for. Although, there's still new content coming to Genshin Impact when Version 1.3 releases, and that's still pretty exciting.
