An apparent Genshin Impact characters Collei, Dori, and Tighnari have been officially confirmed for 3.0, but even more new features have apparently been revealed via leaks.
Each Genshin Impact update gives players new quests to tackle and new characters to acquire, but some releases are much larger than others. Back in July 2021 Version 2.0 introduced the tropical archipelago Inazuma, for example, which came along with the Electro element and a host of new playable characters. Version 3.0 is shaping up to be of a similar size, if not bigger, expanding Genshin Impact into the ominous Sumeru region and introducing its associated Dendro element. New heroes Tighnari and Collei will wield this exciting new element, which is based on plants and nature. Rumors also suggest that Sumeru will be bigger in size than any past Genshin Impact regions, suring even Inazuma.
An apparent Version 3.0 leak, posted to Twitter by Genshin Intel, seems to reveal how the Dendro element reacts with other Genshin Impact elements. The post suggests that mixing Dendro and Pyro causes targets to Catalyze, which deals bonus damage by spreading elemental damage and aggravating foes. Combining Dendro and Hydro attacks, meanwhile, creates exploding Dendro Cores and causes devastating area-of-effect damage. Using Pyro on the seed creates greater AoE damage with Burgeon, while using Electro creates homing arrows with Hyperbloom. While Genshin Intel's information seems authentic, this leak is just a mere rumor for now.
Alongside Sumeru and the Dendro element, leaks suggest that new artifacts in Genshin Impact 3.0 will shake up the action RPG's gameplay too. One leaked set, called Memories of the Deep Forest, significantly boosts the effectiveness of Dendro in battle. The two-piece set bonus can give a character a 15% Dendro damage bonus, while the four-piece bonus reduces an enemy's Dendro resistance by 25% after taking elemental damage for eight seconds. The second leaked Genshin Impact artifact set, Ornamental Gold Dream, increases a character's Elemental Mastery by 80 when two pieces are equipped. The four-piece bonus, meanwhile, has various effects depending on a party's lineup.
Genshin Impact Version 3.0 is shaping up to be a truly massive update, and the new Dendro element is perhaps the most exciting addition. The new element will add various plant-based abilities for players to wield, and Dendro will cause massive damage when it reacts with other elements. By spreading status effects and triggering area-of-effect explosions, Dendro reactions can turn the tide of any battle.
Genshin Impact is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
