Although Genshin Impact has well over 50 playable characters in the game, certain weapon and element combos are still missing from the roster. Though they feature unique designs and play styles compared to the rest of the characters, Genshin Impact 3.5 characters Dehya and Mika bring no new weapon and element combinations to the table. However, there are very few of these that still don't exist in the game, so it seems likely that players will have a character of each type combo in the near future.

Currently, there are five playable weapons and seven elements in Genshin Impact, meaning there are 35 potential weapon and element type combinations in the game. Despite having numerous characters, many overlap their type combos with other existing characters. For example, three Pyro/Claymore wielders, Diluc, Dehya, and Xinyan all share the same type combo. With the recent announcement of Genshin Impact character Kaveh however, who wields a Claymore and possesses a Dendro Vision, Genshin Impact fans can almost complete their collection of characters with every type combination.

Which Genshin Impact Weapon & Element Combos Are Missing?

Out of 35 weapon and element combinations in Genshin Impact, two are not included or announced so far - Cryo/Catalyst and Hydro/Claymore. Speculation points to a Cryo/Catalyst character potentially being difficult to balance in the game, as it would be able to constantly apply the Cryo element and create consistent Freeze Reactions. A Hydro/Claymore character seems easier to fit into the current design of Genshin Impact, but the game may be waiting to introduce this type of character until the release of Genshin Impact's Hydro region, Fontaine.

What Genshin Impact's Missing Weapon & Element Combinations Could Look Like

For character designs, a Hydro/Claymore character would be interesting if it used powerful, yet slow moving Hydro attacks that mimic powerful crashing waves. This would be in direct contrast to the many flowing, graceful Hydro characters, like Genshin Impact 3.2 character Nilah, and introduce a new and unique niche to the element. For a Cryo/Catalyst , an off-field character that's able to infuse an ally's attacks with Cryo damage may be a good way to balance their powerful Cryo applications.

Though many fans have eagerly anticipated the introduction of these weapon and element combinations to the game, it seems like Genshin Impact has yet to find designs that fit each of these type combos. On top of this, Genshin Impact's Sumeru region seems like it won't be introducing many new NPCs, meaning players may have to wait until the next region before obtaining either of these type combinations. Until then however, players will have to look forward to Kaveh's introduction to Genshin Impact Version 3.6 for the newest weapon and element combination.
