Not much has been revealed about their future in The Big Bang Theory aside from their inevitable split, but the spinoff also informs how Mary, Missy, and Meemaw's story in the original sitcom came to be.

Despite the shift in storytelling focus, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage has managed to keep Georgie's family relevant thanks to references to George's death and regular guest appearances from Mary, Missy, and Meemaw. In "Big Decisions," the Young Sheldon sequel offshoot brings back the Cooper family matriarch as her firstborn deals with both marital and professional issues, and can't get the he needs from the McAllisters. Aside from reeling about Mandy lying about working with her ex-boyfriend for months now, Jim also contemplates selling the tire shop, despite previous conversations about Georgie inheriting it.

Jim's decision to sell the business to their competitor, however, prompts Georgie to make him an offer himself.

In fact, Mary's favoritism is barely contested that everyone just starts to live with it — including Missy. The Coopers' only daughter has had a front-row seat to her mom's favoritism. Whether that's Mary catering to Sheldon's whims while ignoring her requests or only seeing her when she makes mistakes.

What makes this worse is that, during Mary's lowest point, when she was going through marital issues with George and dealing with the church ramifications of Georgie and Mandy's unexpected pregnancy, it was Missy who offered her . She even stepped up for the family while her mom and twin were in . While Sheldon's sister has undoubtedly made some mistakes, she has never gotten the same grace and tolerance that the socially-inept genius has gotten over the years.

Interestingly, Mary is so earnest during her conversation with Georgie that it's highly unlikely that she is intentionally lying when she says that she has given attention to her twins. Instead, she appears to truly believe that she has only shortchanged Georgie and equally catered to both Sheldon and Missy. This is far more damaging to her parenting record, because Mary genuinely doesn't see her daughter's plight.

As heartbreaking as this is, it also perfectly explains the tense dynamic between Mary and Missy in The Big Bang Theory. While it wasn't a full-blown feud, as they could still be in each other's presence, their conversations were often laced with ive-aggressiveness — as if they just learned to tolerate each other. Because of this, the chances that Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage will be able to fix their relationship are very little to none.
