Sucker Punch has taken inspiration from Samurai media like Akira Kurosawa's films. The game takes place in 1274, as a Mongol invasion threatens the island of Tsushima.

At the head of the invasion is Khotun Khan, the fearsome leader of the Mongol army. Khotun Kan is actually a fictional character that doesn't exist in history, as Kublai Khan was the leader of the Mongols during the time period.

Khotun Khan is inspired by real figures, and players may even recognize the voice behind the character. Here's who plays Khotun Khan in Ghost of Tsushima.

Ghost of Tsushima's Khotun Kahn is Played By Patrick Gallagher

Ghost of Tsushima Khan

The voice behind Khotun Khan is Patrick Gallagher, and fans might recognize him from a few other recent video games. Most recently Gallagher played Mads Schulz in Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the leader of the Homesteaders. Players may also recognize Gallagher as the voice of a few different civilians in Red Dead Redemption 2, or marines in Halo: Reach. Ghost of Tsushima is by far the actor's biggest role in a video game yet.

Gallagher has also done plenty of roles outside of video games, even one quite similar to Khotun Khan. The actor played Attila the Hun in the Night at the Museum films. Although Huns and Mongols are different, it's interesting that Gallagher already played a nomadic warlord before Ghost of Tsushima. The actor has appeared in a wealth of other films and television series like Glee, True Blood, and The Line.

Ghost of Tsushima is now available on PS4.
