A short teaser for Godzilla vs. Kong 2 has been released, revealing the sequel's official title and hyping another epic kaiju team-up. After several standalone MonsterVerse entries, Godzilla and Kong collided in 2021's epic showdown movie directed by Adam Wingard. A sequel was shortly thereafter given the green light with Wingard confirmed to return and Simon Barrett penning the script.

Now, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have released a short teaser for the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel, revealing the title of the film to be Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and teasing the arrival of a powerful new enemy.

While the new kaiju remains shrouded in shadow in the teaser, his throne is shown surrounded by the bones of his enemies. Included in this pile of bones are none other than the skulls of both Godzilla and Kong, teasing a difficult battle ahead for the duo against this new beast.

The official synopsis for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire reveals that the new threat the two Titans will face off against will come from within our world. While keeping the new kaiju's identity a secret, the synopsis confirms that the beast will threaten not only the existence of Godzilla and Kong, but all of humanity. It's unclear how this new beast was created or awakened but the Godzilla vs. Kong ending does feature the former monster blasting his atomic breath deep into the Earth.

Interestingly, the synopsis for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire reveals that the sequel will delve further into the origins of the Titans and Skull Island. These origins apparently include an epic historical battle that linked the beasts with humankind forevermore.

In of cast, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will see the return of Brain Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes, Rebecca Hall as Dr. Ilene Andrews, and Kaylee Hottle as Jia. It's also been confirmed that Dan Stevens will be ing the cast as a central protagonist, in addition to Fala Chen, and Rachel House. It remains to be seen who the new titan is in Godzilla vs Kong 2, but it is clearly going to make defeating Mechagodzilla look like a cakewalk.
