Concept art from Mechagodzilla during the film's finale. Early looks at the highly anticipated battle of the Titans seemed to be deceiving, with many wondering who the true villain of the film was. The MonsterVerse has proven to have tricks up its sleeve before and Godzilla vs Kong was no different. When Godzilla begins attacked an Apex facility in Pensacola, Florida at the beginning of the film, the humans were left wondering why their Kaiju ally was seemingly attacking places at random.

Millie Bobby Brown's Madison knew nothing was what it seemed and she teamed up with Brian Tyree Henry's conspiracy podcaster Bernie to find out the real reason why Godzilla was targeting Apex facilities. When they discover that Apex is building their own Titan, it's clear they're in trouble. ing the fight at the end of the film, Mechagodzilla breaks free of his human controllers and attempts to take out Godzilla himself. Although he stood no match for both Kong and Godzilla, he stood his ground for quite awhile and it's easy to see why in this new concept art.

Jared Krichevsky shared a look at concept art for MechaGodzilla and his fortified armor makes it clear why he stood a chance against the two Titans. The full body look at MechaGodzilla shows off his near-impenetrable armor and Krichevsky notes that this early look made it to screens mostly intact. The artist notes that the team was impressed with his initial designs of the robot and it's easy to see why. Check out the photos below:

Although Mechagodzilla's appearance was spoiled by toy leaks, it was still an exciting moment to see him break out of the mountains in Hong Kong and fight against Godzilla during the film's finale. With Kong down for the count, it seemed that the fight would be close, but eventually Kong is able to get back up and up with Godzilla to take him down. Whether or not this is the last appearance of Mechagodzilla remains to be seen, but if it was, he went out in a blaze of glory.

Godzilla vs Kong has been praised for having some of the best fights in the MonsterVerse so far and that's partly because of the robotic Kaiju's appearance. Luckily, even if it is his final appearance, there are plenty of more avenues for the MonsterVerse to explore if Godzilla vs Kong isn't the end of the line. Kong is living in Hollow Earth which is full of mysterious creatures. Godzilla, on the other hand, floated off into waters unknown at the end of the film, leaving his future up in the air. Mechagodzilla may have been defeated, but the two biggest Kaijus are still waiting in the wings for the next battle.
