One half of the Good Bones duo, Mina Starsiak Hawk, recently got candid about the show's fans and the impact they've had on her and the series. The renovation reality star had a lot to say and plenty of experiences to share. She knows it isn't every day that a townhouse flipper makes it to the big screen and continues to make a difference in her own hometown.
Mina Starsiak Hawk and her mother Karen E. Laine own and operate the Two Chicks and a Hammer renovation business. Their renovations reality series Good Bones has been an HGTV network success for several years. The fascinating series is filmed in Indianapolis, Indiana, and it shows the mother-daughter duo flipping old and dilapidated homes. The two talented women ensure that the homes are the best they can be, and win so many loyal fans in the process. The beloved show debuted on March 22, 2016, and Good Bones season 6 is currently airing.
After the show launched, Mina found that working in a small town came with a price. She recently opened up about what it's like working in a place where everyone knows your name. When it comes to the series' fans, Mina from Good Bones, who is a mother, is incredibly grateful to be in such a ive community. She says she is often approached by people. However, Mina and her family don't seem to understand what the big deal is. “The people who’ve known me forever are like she’s not that cool. Like my neighbor when people drive by, they’re like ‘hi.’ He’s like, ‘Why do they care about you,’” Mina said in an interview with Heavy. She knows that if it weren't for their fans, there wouldn't be a show. She's incredibly appreciative of viewers' ongoing . See Mina with her hubby below:
When it comes to being on camera and the final product that fans see on Good Bones, Mina stated, “I have to give a lot of credit to our production company for this because they could edit this show, they could edit our content a million different ways and the way it’s edited and put together, it’s not fully us but it’s a pretty accurate small snippet of us and people do feel like they know us. And I think that means, you know, we’re doing our job well if people feel like they can relate to us.” As for life when the cameras aren't rolling, she sometimes forgets that she's a household name.
In past conversations about fans, Mina from Good Bones said it's her husband Steve Hawk that notices when a fan spots her. He'll usually be the one to ask if the person wants a photo with Mina, especially if the fan seems shy. Unlike some stars, she's never felt like of her fanbase crossed any boundaries. "It’s just nice because literally the only reason we have a show that still exists is because we have fans who love it, so being able to connect with them is cool,” the Good Bones reality star said.
New episodes of Good Bones air on HGTV every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. EST.
