Of all the Green Lanterns in the corps, Kyle Rayner doesn't often get the respect he deserves, but one talented cosplayer is changing that by crafting an outfit that presents the legacy Lantern as an amazing teen hero.
While legacies can be fun expansions of a hero's line, some younger generations are summoned in times of crisis. Case in point, Kyle Rayner was drafted to carry on the Green Light after Hal Jordan went insane following the destruction of his hometown of Coast City. Under the influence of the fear entity Parallax, Hal became a villain and destroyed the Green Lantern Corps. In the wake of his beloved Corps' death, Guardian of the Universe Ganthet sought out anyone who could keep the Green Light of Will burning and he settled on young artist Kyle Rayner. With the weight of the universe on his shoulders, Kyle stepped up and became the sole Green Lantern in the DCU for years.
Kyle's journey as the most underdog Green Lantern has inspired epic cosplay. Cosplayer @thatshadyhaze was featured in a post by @dc_cosplay_elite on Kyle Rayner’s Green Lantern comes to life in the picture, thanks to some digital work from @pixelens._. With one photo, @thatshadyhaze confidently exudes Kyle's wholesome charm and "Never say die" spirit. Another picture of @thatshadyhaze's Green Lantern costume can be seen in a video posted on her Instagram . Along with cosplays of Scarlet Spider, Superboy and Batgirl, @thatshadyhaze's Kyle Rayner shines brightly as a demonstration of the work she puts into the characters.
Needless to say, @thatshadyhaze has pulled off some truly cool cosplays and her Kyle Rayner may be one of the best. As far as Green Lanterns go, Kyle Rayner doesn’t often get the respect he deserves. To be fair, there's quite a number of Earth-based Lanterns, so its hard for them all to get their time in the spotlight. This cosplay goes beyond being a well-executed superhero outfit, it's a tribute to the Green Lantern that kept the torch burning in its darkest hour.
When the Corps was pretty much limited to Kyle Rayner after Hal's attack, he was faced with one of the most difficult challenges of any Green Lantern. Not only did he have to continue the work the Guardians started, he had to repair the image Green Lantern Hal Jordan destroyed. Kyle is a symbol of enduring spirit in the face of adversity, the exact sort of positive hero perfect for young people. @thatshadyhaze pulls off Kyle Rayner's energy with a costume that encapsulates everything great about the most resilient Green Lantern in the entire corps.
