An Adam Sandler franchise has taken over a major streaming chart. Sandler is a well-known comic actor who first rose to prominence as a Saturday Night Live cast member. His tenure lasted from 1990 to 1995 and included iconic sketches such as "Opera Man" and "Pepper Boy." Over the course of his career, he has so far been nominated for five Emmys, four of which were for performances on SNL, and one Golden Globe.

Many Adam Sandler movies have been financially successful in spite of earning dismal scores on Rotten Tomatoes. This includes Click ($237.7 million with a 34% score), Just Go with It ($214 million with 19%), 50 First Dates ($198.5 million with 45%) and Big Daddy ($234.8 million with 39%). However, he has also appeared in well-respected dramas such as Uncut Gems (91%) and Punch-Drunk Love (79%), the latter of which earned him his Golden Globe nomination, as well as better-received comedies like The Wedding Singer (72%).

Grown Ups Is Dominating Hulu

The Adam Sandler Franchise Had Two Movies

Adam Sandler's Grown Ups movies have become streaming successes more than a decade after their theatrical debuts. The movies, which premiered in 2010 and 2013 respectively, starred Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider as a group of childhood friends who reunite after the death of their old basketball coach. Both movies are among the star's five worst-reviewed of all time, with Rotten Tomatoes scores of 10% and 8% respectively, but they collectively grossed more than $529 million at the worldwide box office. They are his two highest-grossing live-action movies as well as his second highest-grossing franchise.

Sandler's No. 1 franchise at the box office is the animated series Hotel Transylvania, with the three theatrically released installments having earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide.

On the Hulu chart, which is updated daily to reflect the most-streamed movies, both Grown Ups releases have now taken over the Top 5 11 years after the theatrical run of the second installment. The original movie has taken the No. 1 slot with the sequel trailing slightly behind at No. 4. The only movies separating them are the 2024 Ashley Judd thriller Lazareth at No. 2 and the 2016 Bryan Cranston comedy Why Him? at No. 3.

Our Take On The Grown Ups Streaming Success

Adam Sandler's Popularity Endures

The cast of Grown Ups goes down a water slide

This Hulu performance proves that Adam Sandler is still a cross-platform success in the wake of the popularity of his longtime collaboration with Netflix that has resulted in a variety of movies including The Ridiculous 6, Murder Mystery, Hubie Halloween, and Hustle. While the movies will likely have to find long-term chart success on Hulu in order to bring the possible Grown Ups 3 to fruition after so much time, the star's influence does not seem to have diminished in the decade since the franchise conquered the box office.

Grown Ups 2 is the follow-up to the 2010 Adam Sandler comedy, Grown Ups. This time, Lenny moves his family back to his hometown to have his kids grow up where he used to have the greatest summers of his life. Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, and David Spade all return for the sequel, but it, unfortunately, got largely negative reviews.
