Steven Ogg has a great pitch for speculation about everything GTA 6, many fans have hoped he'd make a return. At present, he says, he hasn't recorded anything - but he does have a great idea for a cameo.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Ogg laid out details of his pitch for a Trevor cameo in GTA 6. "I wish it would be fun if Trevor appeared in it just to be killed at the beginning," he said, referencing a similar scene during Trevor's introduction in GTA 5. Shortly after Trevor first appears, he's confronted by Johnny Kleibitz, a minor character from GTA 4 who also starred in The Lost and the Damned DLC. In a demonstration of his volatility, Trevor snaps and turns on him, killing him unceremoniously on the spot.

Steven Ogg Won't Be Involved In GTA 6

At Least, Not In A Major Capacity

As far as Steven Ogg knows, though, it doesn't look like Trevor will be returning for GTA 6 (or that Ogg will be returning in another role). As good as it is, Ogg's pitch will always remain just that. There's no knowing whether GTA 6 contains any connections to GTA 5; while we know it takes place in the same world as the rest of the series, any specifics will have to wait until the full release.

Analysts Claim Making GTA 6 $80-$100 Would Be A "Turning Point" For The Gaming Industry, & Fans Aren't Happy

A gaming analyst has commented that many are hopeful for Grand Theft Auto 6 to change the industry standard of pricing, potentially charging $80-100.

Still, Ogg's Trevor idea is intriguing, and could work well thematically with GTA 6's plot. He goes on to say, "I think that would be cool, because it also acknowledges the fans of like, 'Hey, thank you.' the torch, stomp Trevor's head in, and sort of put an end to that and allow a new generation to take over."

Trevor's already past his prime by the time the real action of GTA 5 begins; assuming GTA 6 is set a few years later, which it almost certainly is, it's most definitely time for him to throw in the towel. This kind of ing-the-torch moment is a great way to introduce fans to GTA 6's all-new cast, just as the original scene was the perfect introduction to Trevor.

But as difficult as it'll be to leave old favorites like Trevor behind, GTA 6 definitely needed a new cast. Playable characters rarely recur from one GTA game to the next. While they may appear in the background of future games, like Johnny Kleibitz did and Steven Ogg wants Trevor to do, it's pretty much unheard of for the same protagonist to come back from game to game. This is partially because each one takes place in a different city from the last.

Although GTA games typically reuse the same few cities, they don't necessarily always do so in the same order.

But more importantly, it's because every GTA game is a complete story in and of itself, with its own themes, characters, and arcs. GTA doesn't do direct sequels because it doesn't need direct sequels. It'd almost be disrespectful to a character to bring them back for a second run as protagonist. If GTA's done its job, their story has already had a satisfying conclusion.

So, as much as many fans would like to see Trevor (and Franklin, and Michael) return, it's almost certainly for the best that they'll be left out. (Though a cameo wouldn't hurt.) Its the only way to ensure Grand Theft Auto 6 can stand on its own merits.
