GTA 6 is taking the series back to Vice City. Players haven't returned to that fan-favorite location since 2006's Vice City Stories prequel, and GTA IV and V's locations are both retreads of old favorites. While far from a given, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Rockstar Games take players back to the neon-soaked beaches of Vice City.
In going back, the development team could give players a look at what some of the characters have been up to since 1986. After all, Vice City is full of memorable characters, including the first voiced protagonist in GTA history. Plus, many of those characters have popped up in later games with smaller roles. Seeing them fully back in a new adventure could be an excellent way to kick off the hype cycle for Grand Theft Auto 6.
For most players, the first two GTA: Vice City characters that come to mind are likely Tommy Vercetti and Ken Rosenberg. Of the characters who survived the events of that game, those two are the dynamic duo that everyone re. The last time anyone saw Vercetti, he was still running the criminal underworld in Vice City. It's not impossible to imagine a 70-year-old Vercetti being either the mentor or antagonist to GTA 6's main character.
Which Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Characters Could Come Back
Rosenberg, on the other hand, had a small cameo in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. He, along with Kent Paul, works with Carl once players make it to Caligula's Casino in Las Venturas. Seeing Vercetti, Rosenberg, and Paul reunited for one last job down in Vice City might be a good way to start GTA 6.
Outside of those three, players might be able to meet up with some of the smaller players in GTA 6's Vice City. Some notable characters include Umberto Robina, the leader of the Cubans, and Auntie Poulet, the matriarch of the Haitians. Their gang war was one of the major storylines in the original game, and it might be worth revisiting under a modern lens. And, of course, it's impossible to talk about gang leaders without mentioning "Big" Mitch Baker. The old biker was still alive and kicking at the end of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Plus, Rockstar has done entire DLCs centered around biker gangs, so seeing a return of Baker wouldn't be out of the cards.
The last few characters that could show up in GTA 6 are Phil Cassidy, Mercedes Cortez, Candy Suxxx, and Juan Cortez. Of the four, Suxxx makes the most sense because she's been mentioned as recently as Grand Theft Auto 6 does take place in Vice City, there are several characters that Rockstar could bring back to please its fans. At the very least, it's nearly impossible to imagine a game going back to Vice City without players at least hearing about what's up with Tommy Vercetti.
