The Halo TV series on Paramount+ has proved a big hit among viewers. The show brings to life every aspect of the video game and succeeds in doing so. From the characters, appearances, and dialogue, the Halo series is sure to be a hit among all gamers and regular viewers alike.
There are some familiar faces in many key roles in the show. These actors range from Pablo Schreiber to Burn Gorman in some of their best roles yet and fans might have seen these handsome beings before.
Jen Taylor - Halo: The Fall Of Reach (2015)
Actress Jen Taylor has had many small roles in her movie career and prominent roles as a stage actress making her presence in the entertainment industry nothing new. Aside from these small roles, her most notable role comes in the form of a voice animated role in the 2015 animated game Halo: The Fall Of Reach as none other than Dr. Catherine Elizabeth Halsey.
Taylor has voiced the character of Cortana in the Halo game series since its first installment, even voicing the virtual assistant Cortana from Microsoft. With this being the case, it’s only fitting that she continues this role in the Halo tv series.
Shabana Azmi - The Bengali Night (1988)
The Bengali Night stars the handsome Hugh Grant, Supriya Pathak, and Shabana Azmi in a film about forbidden love and the tragedy that befalls those involved. When a British man, Allan, falls ill, he is taken in by his boss’s family to recuperate in his home. As Allan slowly heals, he begins to fall for the family’s eldest daughter Gayatri. As the two begin their secret love affair, they are faced with the consequences as their secret is revealed.
Shabana Azmi plays the role of Indira Sen, wife of Allan’s boss and mother to Gayatri. Her role is limited to an understanding mother whose understanding can only go so far. Her role in this film, although wasted a little, showcased what Azmi could do in “mainstream” films.
Burn Gorman - Torchwood (2006-2011)
Torchwood should be considered BBC shows to binge immediately.
Burn Gorman takes on the role of Dr. Owen Harper, a narcissistic womanizing medical officer and field agent for the Torchwood team. His character explores a lot of character development over his appearance in the first 2 series with Gorman doing the role justice in his final scenes in the series 2 finale.
Olive Gray - Save Me (2018-2020)
Save Me follows notorious womanizer Nelson “Nelly” Rowe as he looks to find his missing estranged daughter Jody. As he ventures on his investigation, it leads him to become an unlikely hero in his search for the truth.
The series was originally released with Sky Atlantic in 2018. In the series, Olive Gray portrays the character of Grace, a trafficked teen saved by Nelly and who resembles his missing daughter Jody. Gray premiered in the series' first season and appeared in 7 episodes.
Yerin Ha - Reef Brake (2019)
Reef Brake is an ABC crime drama following a rehabbed thief turned fixer, Cat Chambers as she works for the governor of a Pacific Island paradise. Using her gift of understanding crime and criminals, Cat opens the door to her complicated past.
Yerin Ha played a character by the name of Technique Jane for the first and only season of the show for 8 episodes. This was Ha’s first television role and now she’s playing one of her biggest roles as Kwan Ha in the Halo series.
Danny Sapani - Penny Dreadful (2014-2015)
Penny Dreadful is a psychological horror-thriller that follows explorer Sir Malcolm Murray, American gunslinger Ethan Chandler, scientist Victor Frankenstein, and medium Vanessa Ives unite to combat supernatural threats in Victorian London.
Danny Sapani portrayed the role of Sembene, confidant, and sentry to Sir Malcolm Murray for 2 seasons and 18 episodes. His mysterious yet heroic character proved invaluable to Sir Malcolm and his efforts, leading him to be by his side until his death by mauling.
Bokeem Woodbine - Jason’s Lyric (1994)
When two brothers, sharing a tragic past take different paths in life, Jason’s Lyric follows their journeys as one brother follows love and another follows the life of crime. In the film, Jason is a TV salesman looking to help his mother and live a normal life when he meets the beautiful Lyric. As he’s beginning a life with a semblance of normalcy, his brother Joshua (Bookeem Woodbine) on the other hand is looking to lead a life of crime and get in with Lyric’s criminal brother.
Bookeem Woodbine took on the film role of Joshua in 1994. He stars alongside the beautiful Jada Pinkett Smith, Allen Payne, and Forest Whitaker. The film is a classic in the African-American community and remains a must-watch even today.
Charlie Murphy - Peaky Blinders (2017-2019)
A BBC hit series, some powerful characters introduced on the scene with one of them being Jessie Eden (Charlie Murphy).
Jessie Eden is an activist and trade union leader based on the real-life of a woman by the same name. She’s responsible for leading the all-female factory workers in Birmingham on strike to protest the Bull Ring. Murphy portrays this character for 2 seasons, appearing in 8 episodes of the series.
Natascha McElhone - Californication (2007-2014)
Californication is a drama series that follows the complicated life of novelist Hank Moody, an alcoholic and womanizer, as he tries to raise his teenage daughter Becca while still pining after his ex-wife Karen and getting his life back to a sensible amount of normal.
In the series, Natascha McElhone plays ex-wife Karen Van Der Beek. She portrays an interior designer and architect trying to co-parent with her complicated ex. Natascha played the character of Karen for 7 seasons until the series finale.
Pablo Schreiber - American Gods (2017-2021)
Released in 2017, The series introduced some great characters and Mad Sweeney was one of them.
Pablo Schreiber plays Mad Sweeney a leprechaun also working for Mr. Wednesday who loses his charm to Shadow Moon’s resurrected wife, Laura Moon.
