Land Grab is a new game mode in Halo Infinite that's part of the Fracture: Entrenched event, and a variety of rewards can be unlocked for completing the associated challenges. The Fracture: Entrenched event will occur several times throughout Season 2, and it's free for players to participate and claim prizes. The rewards include the new Eaglestrike armor core, as well as coatings, emblems, stances, and various armor attachments.
The first Fracture: Entrenched event will be active from May 24, 2022, to May 30, 2022, and future events have been announced for June, July, and August. Each challenge completed in the Land Grab game mode will award 300 XP, but there's a weekly level cap. Players need to participate in at least three Fracture: Entrenched events in Halo Infinite to unlock every available reward.
Land Grab is similar to a Stronghold match in that it starts with two teams of four that must fight to control three separate Zones. To capture a Zone, at least one Spartan needs to be standing in it for a few seconds uncontested. However, when a Zone is captured in Land Grab, it disappears, and the team is awarded a point. Once all three areas are captured, a new set of Zones will appear in different locations. The match ends when a team reaches 11 points. When one team reaches 10 points, then two Zones will be available to claim instead of three. If both teams have 10 points, then only one Zone will appear on the map.
Zone Captures Are More Important Than Kills In Halo Infinite's Land Grab
It's sometimes instinctive to hunt down enemy Spartans and clear the opposing team as often as possible, but Land Grab is less about kills and more about captures. It only takes 11 points to win a match in Halo Infinite, and with three Zones always available until the end of the match, it's important to take control whenever possible. It can be tempting to chase an enemy, especially when their shield is down and they're trying to heal. However, even if players manage to kill the Spartan, they could lose the Zone and miss the opportunity to score valuable points. Prioritizing Zone control while playing Land Grab increases the chance of victory.
Coordinate A Strategy In Halo Infinite's Land Grab
A team with good communication is going to do much better in a Land Grab match. Coordinating attacks and capture attempts can make it easier to win a match in Halo Infinite, and running around in pairs can help accumulate points quickly. In most areas, two players facing opposite directions can cover any entry points where enemies may appear. Additionally, Zone capture speed is increased when more teammates are standing in the designated area, so players should stay close to at least one teammate at all times. Although controlling Zones should be the top priority, a coordinated team can use one or two players, depending on skill level, to engage the enemy Spartans and keep them busy while the others get captures. After playing a few matches, players should know the map well and have an idea of where the Zones can spawn.
Halo Infinite Land Grab Challenges Can Be Rerolled
The main reason for playing Land Grab in Halo Infinite is to complete challenges and unlock new rewards for the Fracture: Entrenched event. Challenges range from simply completing a match to killing 50 opposing Spartans, so some of the missions can be a bit daunting. Luckily, players can use a Challenge Swap to reroll a mission and get a new one to complete. The only downside is that the resulting challenge is random, so there's a risk of ending up with a mission of equal or greater difficulty.
The easiest ways to get better at Land Grab and complete challenges more efficiently are to play the game type as often as possible and learn the Zone spawn locations in Halo Infinite. When the Zones disappear, new ones spawn randomly, but there are a few set locations that they appear in Land Grab. Learning the Zone spawns will give players an idea of where to go when a new set is about to appear. By winning Land Grab matches, working on challenges, and utilizing Challenge Swaps when necessary, players will eventually unlock every reward for the Fracture: Entrenched event in Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
