New details about Xbox's history, and there have been a number of rumors about how Halo Infinite will be taking it in new directions.

The most prominent Halo Infinite speculation about multiplayer content is that it will add a battle royale mode. While 343 has debunked the battle royale rumor, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Halo series include the increasingly popular mode as an option, especially when so many other first-person shooter franchises have done the same in recent years.

After months of silence, 343 has resumed issuing concrete information about Halo Infinite, including the reveal that it will be Halo 5: Guardians unpopular REQ system. Explaining the the pillars of the team's design principles, Paradis promises players can expect:

"Unambiguous Value. If someone invests their time or money in the game, they should understand what they’re getting and that it will be worth more than the investment. Examples of this in practice include no lootboxes, either through engagement or any route. And we’re not selling power or giving an unfair advantage in-game via any route."

While cautious optimism is always the best mindset for hopeful players, it seems that Halo Infinite's monetization endgame for now solely consists of cosmetic rewards that have no bearing on gameplay. Per 343's above claims, there won't be any randomness in how players unlock gear, meaning that cosmetic items can either be purchased or unlocked. Also discussed in the blog post is how the game's roap will be influenced by the community over time, rather than being planned out beforehand and unable to correct course.
