Halo Infinite is releasing Season 4 soon, with an enormous amount of new content including new maps, armor, Career Rank, and even the introduction of the fan-favorite mode Infection from other Halo titles to Halo Infinite. The update will feature many additions to the game to go along with the threat of contamination, as well as quality-of-life updates. The new season will also mean a new battle for players to jump on in order to get access to extra rewards for the season period.
In the overall timeline of Halo games, Halo Infinite is a few years after the events of Halo 5, and new ideas, technology, and dangerous infections are all part of its environment. The Season 4 content, in particular the Infection mode, gives players incentives to keep playing with new challenges and loot. There are also updates to the Forge, including a new minigame mode that allows creators to build from scratch within the Forge.
Halo Infinite Season 4: Infection's Release Date And Overview
Halo Infinite Season 4 will be released on June 20, 2023. It is a free seasonal update for players on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, including Game players. After some of the previous Halo Infinite Season releases caused backlash from the community, 343 Industries seems to have improved in their quality and timing of content ever since the Winter Update last December 2022.
Infection Mode Comes To Halo Infinite With Season 4
Halo's Infection mode was originally a player-made mod back for Halo 2 which quickly became a favorite mode for many players who enjoyed the idea of zombified Spartans turning on their surviving friends. The mode introduces a classic style of zombie fighting where all the players, except for a limited number who represent the Alpha Infected, are on the same side. Whenever one of the Alpha Infected manages to kill a survivor, that survivor is turned into an Infected to then hunt for that side instead until there are no longer any survivors standing. The mode offers a fun social experience for friends where they can turn on each other and fight to be the last one alive.
For Halo Infinite, developers have created a unique story-driven reason for the Spartans to be attacking each other after a training simulation goes awry. Another fun aspect is that random weapons will spawn on the corpse after a Spartan has fallen, presumably so surviving players can loot their friends. Scores will be related to how long a player can survive before being turned. The last surviving Spartan will be given special traits such as unlimited ammo and Overshield to protect them as long as possible, but they will also have their location revealed to all Infected players.
Halo Infinite Will Add Career Rank
A large addition to Halo Infinite in Season 4 is the inclusion of the Career Rank progression system. This will give players a way to advance through military-style ranks similar to the progression system in Halo: Reach and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Players will rise through the ranks simply by playing the game in any variety. Progression will happen for each match played, but the Personal Scores will be taken into , so the better a player does during a match, the more points they will gain toward their Career Rank.
New Maps Added To Halo Infinite Season 4: Infection
In addition to creating two all-new maps that will be added to Halo Infinite in Season 4, developers told Xbox News that they also crafted special versions of other maps specifically for the new Infection gameplay mode.
Level Designer Cliff Schuldt: "We made special versions of 9 maps to the theme and the gameplay for the mode, and make it feel like something unique to Infection: Aquarius, Bazaar, Behemoth, Chasm, Cliffhanger, Forest, Launch Site, Recharge, and Streets have all been reworked to fit the theme."
Two brand new multiplayer maps, Forest and Scarr, will be added to Halo Infinite in Season 4 as well. The Forest Arena Map provides a dense forest environment with old ruins scattered around for players to hide behind, whereas the Scarr Big Team Battle Map is a more hostile environment in an arid landscape.
New Equipment Added To Halo Infinite Season 4: Infection
Season 4 of Halo Infinite brings new equipment for players to enjoy utilizing creatively to gain an advantage over their opponents. It introduces the Quantum Translocator, which will provide a way for players to teleport to a previous location. When a button on the device is activated, it marks that location, so then a second press of the button will allow the player to materialize at that location and create a new teleport spot where they previously stood. Season 4 will also introduce the Threat Seeker, which sends out a pulse that temporarily reveals nearby enemies who may be hidden behind walls or around corners.
New Battle For Halo Infinite Season 4
Not much has been announced just yet regarding the Season 4 Battle for Halo Infinite, but it will be a 100-tier Battle and will offer new coatings. These new coating will include versions compatible with each of the armor cores. The new Season 4 Battle will take effect when Season 4 launches on June 20, 2023.
Halo Infinite will be adding a considerable amount of content with this new update for Season 4 on June 20. The new Infection game mode is already receiving excited responses from Halo fans who enjoyed the mode in the past and the new maps and equipment look to be fun inclusions to the game. New coating customization options for armor and enhanced weapon customizations will allow players to make a more personal experience for themselves in the game and truly create a character that they enjoy. The immersive experience will be free to all players who have Halo Infinite on Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Game and will be released on June 20, 2023.
