The most recent season of Superman. While Harley and Superman have some comic history, her dynamic with another member of the House of El is even more fascinating and hilarious, making it well worth revisiting ahead of this new era for the Gotham City Siren.
During Harley Quinn's New 52 solo series, the titular anti-hero meets Power Girl, whom she idolizes. Not only does Power Girl become part of Harley’s run, but their space adventures together even earn them a tie-in comic. It’s no surprise she made an appearance, as the series was written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti—both deeply connected to Power Girl’s history.
Conner illustrated the first twelve issues of Power Girl’s 2009 series, while Palmiotti co-wrote it. Time and time again, these creators have shown their love for these characters, making a Harley and Power Girl team-up feel like a perfect fit. It also opened the door for Harley to dive into more cosmic shenanigans.
Harley Quinn Was Power Girl’s Sidekick Under False Pretenses
Harley Quinn Is Power Girl's Biggest Fan, But the Feeling Isn't Mutual
In Harley Quinn's New 52 series by Conner, Palmiotti, Chad Hardin, John J. Hill, Alex Sinclair, Stéphen Roux, Adam Hughes, and Art Baltazar, Harley relocates to Coney Island for a fresh start. One day, Power Girl quite literally crashes into her life. With the hero's memories foggy, Harley seizes the opportunity to pose as Power Girl's best friend and sidekick. This sets the stage for plenty of comedic shenanigans, with Harley’s wild antics clashing hilariously against Power Girl’s no-nonsense demeanor, creating an unexpected but entertaining friendship.

It's Really Happening: Harley Quinn Is Getting the Crossover of Our Dreams Thanks to... Elivra?!

Now Is the Perfect Time for Power Girl to HBO's Harley Quinn
HBO Max’s Harley Quinn Takes Inspiration from Her New 52 Series
While the Power Girl and Harley Quinn have their differences, they share one key trait—they kick ass and take names. This pairing would be a delight to see brought to the animated series, especially since Harley is such a huge Power Girl fan. Audiences have already seen her fangirl over other DC characters and even celebrities. Plus, their tie-in comic, Harley Quinn and Power Girl, by Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, Stéphane Roux, Elliot Fernandez, Flaviano Armentaro, Justin Norman, and Paul Mounts, takes the titular duo on a wild, cosmic adventure that perfectly suits the tone of the cartoon.
Much of Harley Quinn on Max pulls inspiration from Harley’s New 52 series, and it's all the better for it. The show may take its own comedic approach, but it’s packed with Easter eggs and references to DC Comics and Harley's history. Power Girl is part of that history—a hilarious and fun part that would be a perfect fit for an animated adventure between the two, especially since the series is now taking place in Metropolis. And while Harley Quinn and Power Girl would make for an amazing duo, there’s no reason why Poison Ivy and the rest of Harley’s crew couldn’t be folded into the fun as well.
