A new Warbond has been announced for beloved SEAF infantry into the field, but developer Arrowhead Game Studios is already looking ahead to a new Warbond.

The Helldivers 2 YouTube channel put out a trailer showing off the new Force of Law Warbond, and it includes a brand-new Guard Dog equipped with lightning weaponry. The AX/ARC-3 "Guard Dog" K-9 appears to be a floating autonomous ARC-12 Blitzer, a lightning shotgun with limited range and moderate damage, but a wide spread and the ability to slow oncoming enemies. ARC weapons have an unfortunate tendency to fry your teammates as well, and the Guard Dogs are notoriously unpredictable in where they aim. The new Guard Dog s alongside plenty of other new additions when the Force of Law Warbond launches on June 12.

Teammates Be Warned

Force of Law seems to make an effort to address recent criticisms of Helldivers 2 Warbonds as not featuring enough content for their price. There still aren't as many items included as the first few Warbonds, but Force of Law is bringing quite a bit to the table. In addition to the new Guard Dog, there is another stratagem (a lightning grenade launcher), two new armor sets, a primary weapon, a grenade (that also does electric damage), a booster, four new patterns (one for each vehicle), three emotes/victory poses, two banners, two capes, and the Extra Judicial player title.

This Warbond is especially timely, since its theme aligns well with the game's current events. The brunt of the Illuminate invasion has been rebuffed, but chaos still consumes Super Earth's streets, and Force of Law promotes the Helldivers as the ultimate law-keepers in the midst of the chaos. It does, of course, also continue Helldivers 2's overt satire of fascism, with items named Pacifier and Jackboot, a style of boot that's heavily associated with Nazi post-World War 2.

Be Careful Around The New Guard Dog In Helldivers 2

Lightning Is Indiscriminate

Force of Law's new Guard Dog is going to be a liability on the battlefield. Accidental team-kills are part of the fun in Helldivers 2, but a Blitzer-wielding drone could become a problem. The ARC Thrower, Blitzer, and Tesla Coil are already notorious for zapping teammates, as is the laser-firing Guard Dog Rover – now combine the two, and you have Force of Law's new stratagem.

The ARC Thrower can be used pretty safely with some practice, but Guard Dogs are known to whip around to different targets unexpectedly. Especially if you and a teammate get swarmed, a nearby Helldiver is very likely to receive some volts. That said, it's also a very promising new Guard Dog; the lightning stunning enemies could be an incredible crowd control tool, especially against the Illuminate and the Terminids. It could simply replace the Blitzer in loadouts that typically use it, but it's true effectiveness will have to be seen once Force of Law comes to Helldivers 2 on June 12.
