Hello Kitty Island Adventure is finally making its way onto console and PC with two versions for players to choose from: Standard and Deluxe. While the Standard Edition includes everything needed to enjoy the island with Hello Kitty and her friends, the Deluxe Edition offers players a way to experience everything they missed out on over the past two years.

Since Hello Kitty Island Adventure has been receiving steady updates since its Apple Arcade release in 2023, there have been numerous event exclusives that anyone ing now will have missed out on. To make up for this, the Deluxe version will include over 300 special items, including legacy items from past events, which has caused some controversy among players.

New Players Won't Have To Miss Out On Event Exclusives

The Deluxe Version Gives New Players A Chance To Catch Up

Since the actual story content is no different between the two versions, the deluxe version does not include any DLC. The only deciding factor between the Standard and Deluxe versions is whether players want additional items or not. For mobile players making the jump to Switch or PC, this means that even though you'll be forced to start over, you won't have to lose all the items you may have put in time and effort to obtain.

One Year After Its Release, Hello Kitty Island Adventure Has More Reasons To Play Than Ever

Since launching last July, Hello Kitty Island Adventure has grown immensely, but the adventure simulation game has a lot more in the works for fans.

Most importantly, however, is that new players who didn't have access to Hello Kitty Island Adventure until now will not have to just accept that they've missed out on these exclusive items. These exclusives include over 300 cosmetic, clothing, and furniture items from the Spooky Celebration, Luck & Lantern, Under The Sea, and more. While there will still be plenty of events to come, it's nice that players are being given the option to have these items if they would like them.

Mobile Players Are Frustrated By Deluxe Edition Offer

Players Who Earned Event Exclusives Through Long Hours Feel A Bit Betrayed

Although it's understandable why Sunblink decided to offer players this opportunity to catch up, it has caused some frustration among those who have been devoted to the mobile version of the game since its release. Not only does the mobile version not offer data transfer, meaning mobile players would be forced to purchase the game and start all over, but they'll have to pay an additional $20 if they want to re-acquire all the event items they already earned in the mobile version.

The composer for Hello Kitty Island Adventure discusses the creative process and challenges behind deg the game's varied soundscapes.

Furthermore, given that the mobile version is exclusive to Apple Arcade, there are no in-app purchases permitted. This means that Hello Kitty Island Adventure is unable to offer mobile players a way to purchase prior event items they missed through a system like Disney Dreamlight Valley's Shop. Instead, mobile players are forced to accept that they missed out on items that are now being offered to console players, meaning they either have to swap to get them too or miss out on them, yet again.

The Deluxe Version Is The Best Way To Play, Despite The Additional Cost

The Deluxe Edition Exclusives Are Worth The Price For New & Returning Players

Hello Kitty Island Adventure Deluxe Items Preview

Whether a new or returning Hello Kitty Island Adventure player, it's hard to argue against the Deluxe Edition. While the price of Hello Kitty Island Adventure is fairly steep, even for the Standard Version, the Deluxe Version is worth the extra cost for those who intend to play this cozy game long-term, especially if they cancel the Apple Arcade recurring monthly subscription in exchange. Furthermore, for returning players, it will also be a great way to speed up gameplay progress and catch up to a mobile save.

Many visitors also have specific requirements for their cabins that can be hard to achieve early on while still acquiring furniture. The access to all the exclusive furniture in the Deluxe Edition helps alleviate this, so visitor requirements can be met sooner.

The Deluxe Edition not only includes exclusive items but also crafting plans and some progress boosters, like friendship blossoms that allow you to reset a resident's gifts, so their friendship can be increased faster, allowing quests and companion abilities to become available sooner. While the cost of the base game and deluxe edition could've arguably been a little more reasonable, there's still no denying that the Deluxe Version is recommended for Hello Kitty Island Adventure players looking to make the most of the game.
