confirmed a 2025 release at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct in April. Now, it looks like more news could be coming among the impending storm of Summer Game Fest reveals, although nothing is yet certain.
As noted by Reddit Thunder9191133, Hollow Knight: Silksong's Steam database has been updated with new game files, which can be seen on SteamDB. The changelog also indicates the addition of achievements and an age rating. These are the first changes to appear since the Nintendo Direct showcase, suggesting potential preparation for an event.
How Likely Is Hollow Knight: Silksong At Summer Game Fest?
An Actually Probable Event
While anticipating the appearance of Hollow Knight: Silksong at every event has been a common and largely fruitless pastime for years, Summer Game Fest 2025 is looking like an unusually probable candidate. Kicking off on June 6, Summer Game Fest features reveals and updates from a host of developers and platforms. Steam updates occurring just a few days ahead of the event make for some suggestive timing, especially with the confirmed 2025 release plan.

Summer Game Fest Hype Trailer Highlights Death Stranding 2, Clair Obscur, And More
A new trailer edited by Geoff Keighley has been shared by The Game Awards to get fans hyped about Summer Game Fest, which kicks off this Friday,
There's also a PlayStation State of Play broadcast on June 4, just ahead of Summer Game Fest, but it's a less likely opportunity for Silksong in particular. Silksong's biggest updates have happened at Nintendo and Xbox showcases, so news at the main Summer Game Fest event or the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday. It's still slated to be a day-one Xbox Game release, although it's not published by Microsoft.
Silksong May Finally Be Close
Evidence Is Starting To Pile Up
The release window and the newest Steam updates aren't the only reasons to believe Hollow Knight: Silksong is almost here. An Australian museum will officially feature the game as a playable exhibit in September, serving as the highlight of an overarching video game showcase. How much of the game will be accessible at the event and how it's meant to synchronize with the game's full release isn't yet clear, but it's another optimistic sign.
While I've been following Silksong news (and the frequent lack thereof) for a long time, I spent the past several years resigned to the idea that it would simply release whenever it was ready rather than clinging to the hope that it could be just around the corner. Since the Nintendo Direct, however, anticipating an impending release has started to seem entirely realistic. Even if Hollow Knight: Silksong does end up failing to appear in Summer Game Fest 2025, it shouldn't be long before we see more news surrounding the long-awaited game and its final release date.
