A new Horizon Zero Dawn sequel that remains under lock and key.
Announced last year during Sony's Forbidden West's setting is so forbidden.
Principal Machine Designer Blake Politeski offered more insight about Horizon Forbidden West's machines in a recent PlayStation Blog post. Notably, the developer mentioned that even some of the hostile machines may inadvertently help Aloy every so often, thanks in large part to new creature behaviors. One of the ive states Aloy will find machines in, for instance, is that of digging for resources. Should she catch a machine in this act, it may kick up dust that Aloy can use as "visual cover" to sneak in for a stealth attack. Later in the blog post, Politeski said it's possible the resources dug up by machines will benefit Aloy if players pay close enough attention.
Thus far, it sounds as though new and old machines in Horizon Forbidden West will behave in a more sophisticated fashion compared to their counterparts in Zero Dawn. Other improvements to the formulate seem promising as well, with Guerrilla previously showcadated climbing mechanics, enhanced melee combat, and new upgrade options that expand upon Aloy's existing skills.
Sony and Guerrilla Games originally planned on releasing the eagerly-anticipated sequel in the back half of this year. Ultimately, though, the companies considered it best to push Horizon Forbidden West to February 2022 - five years to the month after Zero Dawn's 2017 debut on PlayStation 4.
Horizon Forbidden West strides onto PS4 and PS5 early next year on February 18, 2022.
