Kevin Costner's Western Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 has ed a global box office milestone. Horizon is a historical epic that chronicles the story of the expansion of the American West during a period before and after the Civil War. It features a wide ensemble cast including Costner, Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Owen Crow Shoe, Tatanka Means, Giovanni Ribisi, and Tim Guinee. Per Collider, Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 has now crossed a box office milestone. Horizon has now crossed $25 million worldwide. This total was aided by the film's July 10 gross of a reported $621,144, bringing the film's total to $25,504,840.
What Is Happening With Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2 Explained
The Sequel Has Been Delayed
Even with Horizon recently breaking the $25 million mark, its total is far from enough. The estimated budget for the production was around $100 million, meaning that Horizon would have to quadruple its current earnings to even earn back its direct budget, and that is not counting the additional costs of marketing that are not included in the budget reports. Costner personally invested a reported $38 million in the project, so as of now, Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 has not even made enough to for Costner's personal spending.

Kevin Costner's New Western Franchise Is Already Doomed After $22 Million Performance
Costner's vision for his Horizon franchise may be unattainable after the box office flop of its first installment and concern for its imminent sequel.
Originally, Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 was supposed to be followed up by the theatrical release of Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2 less than two months later, on August 16. This second installment was also supposed to be followed up by the production of the third and fourth Horizon films, which had not yet begun production. Earlier this week, it was announced that Chapter 2, despite being largely finished, was pulled from the theatrical release calendar. At the time of writing, there is not a rescheduled release date for Horizon 2.
Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1's continued box office faltering is not a good sign for the release of Chapter 2. With the first movie set for VOD release on July 16, the film has just one more weekend of theatrical exclusivity. Unless a statistical miracle were to occur, the film is not expected to make back its exorbitant budget for at least the first installment.
