Every House fan asked themselves at some point which of Gregory House's fellows was the most similar to him, and it took the show eight seasons to answer that question. As great a character as House was, the show would not have been the same without the mentor-mentee relationship between him and his fellows. Not only were Foreman, Cameron, and Chase our point-of-view characters that helped us understand House, but they were also essential for his diagnosis process.

At the end of "Everybody Dies," after House faked his death so that he could be with Wilson during his friends' final months, we get a look at what everybody's lives now look like. While some important characters were missing from House's finale, including Cuddy, the original fellows from the first three seasons were all part of the final episode. Cameron was now Head of Emergency Medicine in Chicago; Foreman remained PPTH's Dean of Medicine, and Chase replaced House as the Head of Diagnostic Medicine.

The fact that Chase inherited House's department, which itself was never a proper department and more like something Cuddy came up with to give House his own little sandbox, shows that he was his boss's perfect successor. Chase and House had a lot in common, and while each of House's fellows learned a lot from him, it is safe to say that Chase is the one who embraced those lessons the most. Of course, becoming the "new House" was not a great chance.

One of the reasons why Cameron broke up with Chase was that he had become too much like House, which she realized after the Dibala incident. Naturally, House told Cameron he was not to blame for whatever was happening between them. Regardless, Chase did become a lot like House as the show went on, both professionally and as an individual. But even going back to the first three seasons, Chase was always the one most similar to House, especially when it came to diagnosing a patient. If there were to be a "new House" at the end of the series, it had to be one of the three original fellows. While House's second team and all the other iterations that came after it were all great characters and allowed the show to keep reinventing itself, the original three were the heart and soul of House. Apart from Wilson and Cuddy, the three House characters who knew and understood Gregory House the most were Foreman, Cameron, and Chase.

Interestingly, based on the confusing House timeline details that were revealed throughout the show, Chase was the one working for House the longest at the start of the series. While House only hired him because of his dad, Dr. Rowan Chase, Robert proved himself and was clearly his boss's favorite. Even the fact that House fired Chase out of nowhere showed a twisted sense of respect and validation, almost as if House was saying that he had nothing left to teach him.
