In Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, and most life simulation games, one of the biggest appeals is the ability to marry. However, it would only be a complete life simulation with the option to get a divorce from a previously selected companion that players may initially have thought was the one.
Unfortunately, divorcing in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is not as simple as deciding to divorce and initiating it. To divorce a previously married character, players must cause their spouse to want a divorce by doing negative things such as not providing; unfortunately, this will mean losing more than just a spouse.
There is no traditional divorce in this game. The only "divorce" option is not a true divorce, but if players are truly unhappy with their spouse, it is the only way to gain a new partner.
How To Initiate A Divorce In Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
Whereas in other life simulations, divorce is an easy option, and players can simply do it and move on with their lives, that is not the case in a Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life marriage. The only way to initiate the closest thing to a divorce is to completely ignore all responsibilities. Players must ignore their farming responsibilities and completely disregard their families. At that point, the spouse will begin to get tired of things and leave with the child. First, the spouse will push the player to see if they care about the farm. To go through with the divorce, keep selecting the options that indicate no interest in the farm.
While this is a divorce initiation, it is also the end of the game. At that point, players will need to start over and try again. Therefore, as players can see, they will not be able to get a divorce in the traditional sense that allows them to pick a new partner and continue. This is why players need to be certain when heading into their proposal in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life that they are happy with their choice.
However, on the plus side, as the only way to initiate divorce is basically to give up completely on the game then, players can at least take solace in knowing that they are unlikely to accidentally initiate one by doing small things they might think irritates their spouse in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. Finally, for those who are completely unhappy, there is a way out, but it will mean starting over, so it will be up to each individual to decide if getting a new spouse is worth putting in the work all over again.
