The Canadian Game Awards will be held on February 15, 2025, at 8 PM EST. Hosted by actor Naomi Kyle, the ceremony is located at the TIFF Lightbox in Toronto. The Awards are focused on the best of the Canadian video game industry, with categories for games, studios, and content creators throughout Canada. Categories at the Canadian Game Awards include Best Game Design, Best Performance, Best Content Creator, and, of course, the coveted Game of the Year. This year's GOTY nominees include an excellent selection from across the industry, ranging from indie hits to massive triple-A epics.

Game of the Year nominations kick off with Biomorph, a dark metroidvania set in the ruins of a once-sprawling city. They also include Lil' Guardsman, a Papers, Please-inspired indie in which players solve deductive puzzles to decide which of over 100 fantasy creatures to it into a castle. There's also the evocative watercolor-styled game Été, in which players paint the city of Montréal, exploring its streets and meeting its people. Bioware's expansive RPG Dragon Age: The Veilguard also makes the list, as does the sci-fi adventure game 1000xResist. Finally, the smash hit poker roguelite Balatro rounds out the bunch.

Winners will the esteemed company of previous Canadian Game Awards winners, which include the isometric action-adventure game Tunic and the side-scrolling run-and-gun Cuphead. Other categories include Best Game Design, Most Innovative Studio, Best Technology or Innovation, Best Debut Studio, Best Narrative, and Best Esports Org, covering a wide breadth of topics in the video game industry.
