The Hulk needs to be taken in a new direction in the MCU, and his Joe Fixit comic book costume and persona is the perfect route to reinvent the character. In the '90s, Hulk returned to his original grey form as Peter David gave the hero a drastic redesign transforming him into Joe Fixit, a bodyguard in Las Vegas who wasn't afraid to show off his muscle. The Jade Giant's Joe Fixit persona would be the perfect next step for the Hulk to take in the MCU - and the comics prove it.
Bruce Banner's most iconic form of the Hulk is the green rage monster that's appeared relatively unchanged during his most of his comic storylines. However, the Hulk has been given several personas over the years in the pages of Marvel Comics, from Doc Green's Professor Hulk, Hulk's recent Devil Hulk form in Immortal Hulk, and perhaps most famously, his Joe Fixit persona. With a gangster redesign and costume in his grey form, the most surprising version of the Hulk is begging to become canon in the MCU.
The Joe Fixit persona for the Hulk has strange beginnings, as the hero's costume and redesign came under unusual circumstances. In The Incredible Hulk #351-352 by Peter David and Joe Purves, Hulk was presumed dead after the Leader and his crew detonated a Gamma Bomb to kill the Hulk. However, while the public believed Hulk died, he was actually transported to a magical world, helping a group of alien magic-s take down an evil dictator. In exchange for his services, a spell was cast to help Hulk get rid of Bruce Banner. When he returned to Earth, Hulk became a gangster named Joe Fixit, working at a casino in Las Vegas.
The slick-costumed redesigned Hulk was a perfect nod to his grey Marvel beginnings, ending up creating quite a life for himself as Joe Fixit, even falling in love. He used his strength to make money, engaged in the wild setting of Vegas and was the Hulk like readers hadn't seen before up until that point. But, as is the case with most versions of the Hulk, his relationship with Bruce Banner eventually destroyed what he created as the gangster. Joe Fixit has returned on multiple occasions, including in the recent Iand also will return in a new miniseries from Peter David and Yildiray Cinar. The Joe Fixit persona would be perfect for the MCU, as it would flip the idea of Bruce worrying about Hulk and show Hulk trying to suppress his human persona for once.
Considering the MCU has already done the gladiator version of Hulk, Joe Fixit remains his best costume and redesign that hasn't been used in live-action. Introducing Hulk as Joe Fixit would represent quite a change of pace for the character, as his Marvel Comics personality would take Hulk in a much-needed new direction. It seems like a no-brainer to introduce Hulk's Joe Fixit form.
