Holobytes are the extra pieces of utility gear that players can find that usually enhance various abilities or other types of gear players have. They are not hard to find, but many of them are not as good as others either. Players will want to make sure they have the best gear in order to progress in Hyper Light Breaker, but this can be hard if they do not know what gear they are looking for.

Holobytes do stick around after each run if the player dies - sometimes. That all depends on the rarity and whether or not players can find ones with more uses. Holobytes are incredibly important as they can significantly change the amount of damage players are putting out, particularly if they are used in the right way.

How Many They Are & What They Mean

As of now, it appears that there are 5 rarities in the game, ranging from white to red in the order seen below:

• White
• Blue
• Gold
• Purple
• Red

The player can tell what rarity it is by looking at the left side of the Holobyte, which has a number of pips beside it. The more pips, the higher a level it is, which is handy if it is harder to distinguish the colors. The higher level the Holobyte is, the better stats it will have, the more uses it will typically come with, and the more power it will bring.

However, make sure to read through the Holobyte’s powers before buying or equipping it. Just because it is a higher-level piece of gear does not mean it is the right one for each player. What Holobytes Are Used For

How To Find Them & What To Do With Them

Holobytes are used to build up the character's loadout. There are 5 slots to begin with, but players can use Golden Rations to level up the Gear Vendor to get more slots. While some Holobytes can be sent back to the Vault when they are found, most of the time players will have to decide on the spot whether or not to use them. Whatever slot is selected will be the one replaced, so be careful not to replace the best one.

Holobytes can drastically change the gameplay. For instance, they can be used to help heal the player in Hyper Light Breaker. Or they can be used to dish out more damage, increase the chance of critical hits, or improve the abilities of weapons and amps. Keep in mind that the pips below the icon inform the player that they will only have that gear for a certain number of deaths. Once the last pip is used, the gear will be discarded.

The weapon Holobytes need to be paid a little more attention to, as they usually specify a particular weapon type. Vermillion’s sword, the first playable character, is a “Balanced” so Holobytes that improve Balanced swords will always be fairly good. If a Holobyte does not work for the current loadout of a character, send it off to the Vault if possible or choose the other one.

Players should not go around without any Holobytes expecting to win fights against most of the Crown bosses. There are many options for players to pick from, and they can be found just by defeating regular enemies in the Overgrowth.
