After all, the best way to draw in new subscribers is to capitalize on nostalgia which is exactly what Paramount+ is doingiCarly is the latest television series to get a revival for Paramount+ as announced back in December 2020. iCarly was one of Nickelodeon's most popular shows during the late 2000s and early 2010s so it's no surprise that it's getting a revival. While there aren't too many details about the new show yet, Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor, and Nathan Kress are all confirmed to be part of the cast. And with so much still unknown, fans have become to speculate and brainstorm things they hope the new show will contain.

Spencer As A Succesful Artist

Fans of the original Spencer created dozens of fun and weird sculptures; some of which were successful and some that were not so great. By far a fan favorite was his butter sculpture of Mr. Toasty.

Now that Spencer is older in the reboot, fans are hopeful that his hard work has finally paid off and that he's become an established artist. They also hope he hasn't stopped making weird and funny sculptures.

Carly Restarts The Web Series

One of the biggest parts of iCarly was the actual web series Carly (Cosgrove) filmed in their apartment's spare room with her best friends Sam (Jennette McCurdy) and Freddie (Kress).  Watching the antics of the trio filming created some of the most hilarious moments on the show and made it stand apart from other Nickelodeon shows.

While the internet and vlogs have changed a lot since iCarly ended, fans are hopeful that Carly will revisit her vlogging history and maybe adapt it to the times. Perhaps, she could host a famous Tik Tok-equivalent channel.

An Explanation For Sam's Absence

Sam was a major character in the original iCarly serving not only as Carly's mischievous best friend but also Freddie's love interest in later seasons. Unfortunately, she will not be in the revival since Jennette McCurdy has opted to retire from acting after a long career as a child actress.

While fans respect and ire McCurdy's decision, they can't help but wonder how the show will address Sam's absence. A running joke on the show was always that Sam would probably end up in jail one day so that might be one way the show addresses the issues, but hopefully they find a more positive story for Sam.

Carly Getting To Be An Authentic 20-Something

One of the hard things about rebooting a popular children's show is that it's hard to decide who the target audience should be. While iCarly was originally a kids show, Cosgrove has gone on record saying the reboot is more for the 20-something-year-old crowd who grew up watching the original.

With this news, fans are hopeful that Carly will get to be a real, authentic twenty-something-year-old and not a watered-down one in case kids are watching. It's a difficult line to toe that could go either way, but hopefully Paramount+ allows the show to do just that (unlike what Disney+ did with the Lizzie McGuire reboot).

Things Randomly Bursting Into Flames

Avid fans of the original iCarly will that the show has a lot of running gags including the one where things in Spencer's apartment randomly burst into flames. Sometimes it was things that made sense like microwaves and stoves, but other times, things randomly burst into flames that shouldn't like drum sets.

It was a hilarious gimmick that never got old and fans are hopeful that it will return in the reboot, especially since Spencer is still living in the same apartment.

Freddie's Mom Still Being Overbearing

Another funny running gag/meme of sorts on iCarly was Freddie's overbearing mother who lived next door to Spencer. Fans will her randomly bursting into Spencer's place to remind Freddie to take bath, put sunscreen on, or other weird things.

Even though Freddie will be an adult in the reboot, fans are hopeful that his mom makes an appearance. After all, overprotective parents rarely stop being overprotective just because their kids are adults. In fact, it could be even funnier now that he is older.

More Of Freddie's Personal Life

The original series focused more on Carly than it did on Freddie, at least in the earlier seasons. While fans did get a glimpse at his home life and he did get a few romantic plots over the years, fans are hoping they get even more Freddie in the reboot.

This is especially true since it's been revealed that Freddie has a stepdaughter in the reboot. The news was a shock to many fans who are now eager to learn who Freddie ended up with and what he's like as a father.

Carly Becomes Neighbors With Spencer

Part of the charm of iCarly stemmed from the iconic apartment complex Spencer, Carly, and Freddie all lived in and where they filmed the web series. And while it's confirmed that Spencer still lives in the same apartment, it's unclear where Carly is going to live.

Now that Carly has a new roommate fans are curious as to where she and her new best friend live. While it could be fun for them to venture into a new apartment and bedroom, fans are hopeful that she ends up being neighbors with Spencer in the apartment complex.

T-Bo & The Groovy Smoothie To Make An Appearance

Like many Nickelodeon shows, iCarly had a fun cast of side characters who were always there to make fans laugh. One of the most memorable of these reoccurring cast was T-Bo, an employee at The Groovy Smoothie.

Fans are hopeful that T-Bo makes an appearance and that Carly and Freddie continue to visit The Groovy Smoothie. It'll be fun to see what wild food on a stick inventions T-Bo has come up with since the show ended. Fingers crossed he'll make an appearance.

A New Iconic Theme Song

Carly and Sam yelling in the opening credits

Like its predecessor Drake and Josh, the original iCarly had an amazing and catchy theme song that was paired with an iconic opening sequence. "Leave It All To Me" was bound to get stuck in anyone's head which is what made it work.

While theme songs aren't as widely used anymore, the iCarly reboot won't be the same without an iconic theme song of its own. Perhaps, they can blend the original song with a new version that is even better and more mature than the original.
