introduced Notes in December 2022 as a way for s to post short-lived, 60-character status updates. They’re housed within the Chat tab and, like Stories, last only 24 hours before disappearing.
With the update, Notes now has a built-in function for adding songs from Instagram’s music library. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new feature in an Instagram broadcast channel and Story post, showing how s can post both a song clip and a message to go with it. Clips are 30 seconds long, and will play when another taps that person’s Notes bubble.
Posting A Song As Your Instagram Status
To use the feature, s may first need to update the will also see a music note icon. Tap that icon and select the song, add a caption if desired, then hit ‘Share.’
As with Stories, Instagram s can choose who sees their Notes. When sharing, they’ll see the option to share the status with ‘Followers you follow back’ or 'Close Friends' only. The ’s friends won’t be notified about the Notes update, but they’ll see it at the top of their own Chat pages on mobile. s can only post one Note at a time, so any new Notes shared within 24 hours of another will replace the previous post.
Despite the nostalgia factor for adult s, Instagram’s Notes feature is used far more by teens, according to host to viral trends, and it seems Meta so far plans to keep building on it. The company is reportedly adding translations to Instagram Notes, too.
