The overwhelming success of the Nolan classic proves that it remains in high demand even a decade after its release. It speaks to the film's undeniable quality of being ahead of its time. IMAX is looking to expand beyond the current 166 theaters for next weekend. It's very likely that as the re-release continues, many more milestones will be reached.

Our Take On Interstellar's Return To Theaters

Interstellar Is Giving Viewers A Reason To Go To Theaters

Interstellar explores big concepts about wormholes, time travel, extinction, and sacrifice, but the story never feels out of touch. By focusing on the relationship between a father and his daughter, Interstellar roots its story in relatable experiences and emotions. It's not a surprise that the film is still resonating with audiences a decade later, but what makes the box office milestone rare is the fact that fans have been able to stream the film at home for many years.

With only 166 theaters currently participating in the re-release, it seems that many viewers are going out of their way to watch one of Christopher Nolan's best movies in the IMAX format. Not only is Interstellar still relevant, it seems to have the ability to drive potential viewers to the theaters, which is something that many newly released movies struggle to do against the streaming platforms that changed moviegoers' viewing habits.
