Screen Rant was on the ground during the Anne Rice Universe at San Diego Comic-Con, where a new teaser for Interview with the Vampire season 3 was revealed, showing Lestat coming back to the series as a rock star.

The trailer reveals Lestat is sitting down with Daniel for what appears to be a documentary, donned in rock star attire. An original song sung by the vampire begins to play, as he appears in different outfits, seemingly as part of the interview process. The trailer teases the new season will be a musical mixed with documentary elements.

Interview With The Vampire Season 3 Already Looks Like A Unique Follow-Up

Interview with the Vampire season 2 ended with Louis and Lestat reconciling after Claudia's death, the latter seemingly planning a musical tour with a band full of other vampires. In the meantime, the younger vampire ends up painting a target on his back for helping Daniel with his book, with many now wanting to hunt him down for revealing their secrets to the world. The interviewer himself was made a vampire by Armand, something that will no doubt have repercussions going into season 3.

While the new teaser doesn't reveal much about what's to come, the sit-down interview style makes it seem like Daniel is doing a documentary about Lestat, likely at the agreement of the elder vampire. He's also singing the song in the trailer, hinting the season will have plenty of musical elements tying its story together. This aligns with the story of The Vampire Lestat, with the titular character also having formed a band in the source material to tell his story through autobiographical means.

While it's unclear what will truly happen during season 3 of the show, Lestat's band and its means the Interview with the Vampire cast will be growing as his story begins. This could also include characters who show up in the past, as more of who he was prior to when he met Louis will likely be explored in the forthcoming episodes. With the new season having a very different feel from the previous, the new direction for the show seems like a fitting evolution now that it has a new main subject.

As of writing, Interview with the Vampire season 3 doesn't have a release date.
