Warning: contains spoilers for Invincible Iron Man #15After months of teasing, Marvel has finally debuted Tony Stark's incredible new Iron Man suit - made from the mutant metal known as mysterium - in Invincible Iron Man #15. Crafted by the brilliant Stark, and inspired by his marriage to the iconic Emma Frost, Iron Man's mysterium armor just proved how unimaginably powerful the metal is by demolishing one of Wolverine's adamantium claws.

Iron Man has been building his Mark 72 armor for weeks after Tony's archenemy Feilong stole Stark Industries out from under him, confiscated all of his Iron Man armor, and ruined his reputation.

Invincible Iron Man #15, from writer Gerry Duggan with artists Creees Lee and Walden Wong, sees one of Orchis' brutal "X-Sentinels" attacking Tony in the Hellfire Club, forcing Stark to debut his Mark 72 armor and defeat the robot Wolverine.

Iron Man's New Mysterium Armor Is Stronger Than Adamantium

Invincible Iron Man #15 Mysterium armor debut

Adamantium is best known for being the nigh-indestructible steel alloy that covers Wolverine's skeleton. However, Proto-Adamantium is the alloy used to make Captain America's shield and has been used throughout Earth-616 for various heroes and villains. Adamantium is incredibly hard to forge, and manipulate, and the only known metal on Earth-616 that can damage Adamantium is Antarctic Vibranium, which Tony Stark comments as the X-Sentinel assaults him and Frost. Through the Krakoan Age, the X-Men rarely cleaned up their deaths, since they could be resurrected, meaning there are dozens of Wolverine skeletons now owned by Orchis, which they used as a chassis to construct the destructive X-Sentinels.

Invincible Iron Man #15 proves just how powerful mysterium is, by pitting it directly against the unbreakable Adamtium skeleton of Wolverine. In Stark's previous experiments, he discovered that mysterium - forged with powerful mutant circuits in the White Hot Room - could not be bent by Captain Marvel or destroyed by Doctor Strange, confirming its general strength and anti-magic properties. However, after confronting the X-Sentinel in his new Mark 72 armor, Stark leaves himself vulnerable to assault by the robot. Thankfully, the mysterium armor proves to be perfect for Iron Man's escalating war against Orchis, since the X-Sentinel's Adamantium claws completely crumple against the Mark 72's armor, shattering the robot's arm.

Orchis' X-Sentinels Are Now Pretty Much Useless Against Iron Man

X-Men #22 X-Sentinel Brought Online

Even Emma Frost, a woman who is very hard to impress, is delighted by the display of Iron Man's new power after he easily crushes the X-Sentinel's skull, calling mysterium's strength "astonishing." The X-Sentinels, along with the Stark Sentinels, are some of Orchis' strongest weapons against Iron Man and the X-Men. With one suit of armor, Tony Stark has made the murderous robots obsolete, by proving mysterium can easily destroy Adamantium. This is a truly huge development in the world of Marvel Comics, since for years now Adamantium and Vibranium have been considered the two strongest metals on Earth-616.

The daring end of this issue sees Tony Stark making a Voltron-like giant armor out of multiple mysterium ships, to finally fight and defeat the despicable Feilong. After destroying Wolverine's Adamantium-lined skeleton, mysterium is officially Iron Man and the X-Men's most powerful weapon against the X-Sentinels and Stark Sentinels, which will surely come in handy as the war against Orchis reaches its deadly conclusion.
