Selling Sunset season 8 provided several drama-infused episodes for fans, but many of these dramatic moments might've been scripted. After a short hiatus, Selling Sunset returned to the screens for a much-awaited season 8 on September 6, 2024. As expected, many of the Oppenheim Group's household stars returned to the show, including Jason and Brett Oppenheim, Chrishell Stause, Mary Fitzgerald, Emma Hernan, Amanda Smith, Chelsea Lazkani, Nicole Young, and Bre Tiesi.
Selling Sunset season 8 also featured Alanna Whittaker (also known as Alanna Gold), an agent at the Oppenheim Group who competed with Mary and Chelsea for a listing. Still, Chelsea's divorce from her husband Jeff Lazkani, his infidelity, Chelsea's beef with Bre, and Nicole's feud with Chrishell were some of the season's storylines. However, many dramatic occurrences in the show have now been questioned due to specific suspicious trends.
Bre's Friend Amanda Scheduled To Film The Chelsea's Husband Tea
Amanda Was the Ordained Mischief Maker
Selling Sunset fans finally got to watch one of the most teased storylines of season 8 play out during episode 3 when Bre's friend and fellow realtor Amanda told her about seeing Chelsea's husband, Jeff, at a hotel with another woman. Bre and Amanda found the situation funny. Bre even debated how to break the news to Chelsea to get some clapback for Chelsea's comment about her relationship with comedian Nick Cannon. However, despite how dramatic the scene was, it wasn't that surprising to fans because of the suggestion that it might've been staged.

Bre & Emma's Wayward Talk Happened At Niko's Funeral
Funeral Proceedings Are No Exception for Drama
Besides the multiple house deals that needed closing, Selling Sunset season 8, episode 9 was supposed to be about Mary and Jason mourning the loss of their beloved dog Niko, who was their companion for much of his 18 years. The funeral started pretty much as expected, with Jason and Mary unable to hold back tears as they spoke fondly of their memories with Niko and the last meal he had.
The events surrounding lunches on Selling Sunset seem too repetitive to be a coincidence, giving credence to the belief that much of the drama on the show is scripted.
However, after the emotional ceremony, Emma talked to Bre about her beef with Chelsea. The duo would argue about who Emma was ing, causing a scene that drew everyone's attention and marred the funeral. Emma and Chelsea's decision to pick Niko's funeral to make a scene felt scripted and totally against the atmosphere, which quickly shifted from mourning to confrontation.

As teased, Selling Sunset season 8 featured many dramatic moments, making the season another brilliant and entertaining installment. However, as the season progressed, the trend of the Selling Sunset stars always instigating drama during lunch dates became suspect and constant. Bre and Chelsea met during lunch to discuss her husband's infidelity, which Amanda revealed to her. Then, in episode 7, Chrishell Stause and Emma also ed Chelsea for lunch, where they questioned Bre about her motives, discussing Jeff's infidelity on camera.
Meanwhile, during episode 10, Nicole Young also chose a lunch in Pioneertown to reveal a rumor about Emma to Alana. A surprising cameo on the show, which saw Chelsea running into her British friends, TV personality Joey Essex and professional boxer Conor Benn, also occurred while dining with her Oppenheim Group colleagues. Do The Broker's Opens Require Cast Participation?
Broker’s Opens Are Mainly for Drama
For real estate agents, broker opens are essential strategies to generate interest in a property within the first few days before it goes on the market. While most of the Selling Sunset stars are real estate agents in real life, their participation in the show and the publicity it brings complicate their duties a little bit. However, despite this, Selling Sunset cast feel no reluctance to start drama during their open house showings, which leads many fans to accuse the show of staging the showings.
For example, Chrishell wasn't reluctant to discuss Bre's absence at a showing with Jason. These property showings, seemingly always staged for the drama, led to questions about whether any of the sales were real. However, with many previously mentioned tactics, it has become evident that one of the significant reasons Selling Sunset cast participate in the showings is, unsurprisingly, for the drama.
