Halle Berry has weighed in on whether Bond girls since there were originally plans to develop a spinoff based on her character. While the Jinx spinoff was eventually canceled, Berry's thoughts on a female James Bond are still worth considering ahead of the 26th movie in the long-running spy franchise.

In an interview with Variety during the jury press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, Berry itted that she's not sure if James Bond should be played by a woman. She didn't elaborate that much, but suggested that casting a female to play James Bond might not be the right thing to do right now. She also added that she doesn't think a Jinx spinoff will ever happen, seemingly confirming that she will never return to the James Bond franchise. I'm not opposed to the idea of a female 007, but since Amazon will likely develop a lot of James Bond spinoffs, I think it's much more likely that a woman will lead a different movie or show in the franchise. While Berry's Jinx spinoff never happened, perhaps a Moneypenny spinoff or a project following a different female MI6 agent will now be made. Therefore, now that these projects are possible, more fans may agree with Berry and may be less eager to see a female James Bond.
