Jason Momoa will soon be debuting as Jason Momoa's casting as Aquaman was always a curious choice, but the Game of Thrones and See actor has recently been recast, and his new role couldn't be more perfect.

A year after the disappointing release of 2023's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the DCEU's final movie, Jason Momoa confirmed that he has now been recast as Lobo for Gunn and Safran's rebooted DC Universe. Momoa revealed that he'd always wanted to play DC Comics' hardened bounty hunter, Lobo, and is now expected to debut in the Milly Alcock-led Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. This inspired casting has been imagined in dark DCU art shared by bosslogic that proves Jason Momoa will make a better Lobo than he ever did Aquaman.

What Jason Momoa’s Lobo Casting Means For The DCU

Jason Momoa's Lobo Is A Huge Asset To The DCU

First introduced to DC Comics in 1983's Omega Men #3, Lobo is an alien mercenary and bounty hunter from the planet, Czarnia. Following Lobo's return in the 1990s in Simon Bisley's new distinct style, he became an incredibly popular character, and even got his own comic series, so while initially intended to be a parody of Marvel Comics' Wolverine, he became a significant character in his own right. Lobo is striking, dark, brutal and metal, and is perhaps the perfect DC Comics character for Jason Momoa to portray in live-action.

Lobo

Not only is Lobo Jason Momoa's dream DC role, and not only does Momoa have the perfect physique and appearance to portray Lobo, but he has also demonstrated the ability to portray characters of high drama with comedic tones perfectly. Lobo is expected to be a villain opposite Milly Alcock's Supergirl in the DCU's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, though Jason Momoa could portray the character for years to come and see him evolve into a formidable antihero and even superhero in the DC Universe.

Our Take On Jason Momoa As The DCU’s New Lobo

Jason Momoa Looks Better As Lobo Than He Ever Did As Aquaman

Jason Momoa's Aquaman as the King of Atlantis in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Jason Momoa did the best job he could with Aquaman in the DCEU, but the character was never quite right for the actor. Lobo is perhaps the most spot-on character choice for Momoa, so his confirmed casting as the DC Comics antihero and Lobo's debut in 2026's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is very exciting. Momoa was born to play Lobo, and it's been great to see his excited reaction to the recasting and the hugely-positive audience response to the news. Momoa's revitalized career in the DC Universe is very exciting indeed.
