best movie assassins could give John Wick a real challenge, and even then, it's possible he'd still come out on top. However, despite everything he's accomplished on-screen, we haven't even seen the best version of the Baba Yaga.

During the franchise's very first movie, John was happily retired and had seemingly put his days as a hitman behind him, suggesting his peak had already ed. It was only when his peace was disrupted that he decided to enact revenge and utilize his incredible skill set once again, but while he was still extremely capable during his four movies, he would undoubtedly have been even better in his prime. The series even mentioned John Wick previously completing an impossible task that was surely his most impressive mission, and fortunately, we will finally find out exactly what this entailed.

With the world of John Wick continuing to expand, the franchise will dip its toes into the world of anime, with the exciting project set to explore the protagonist's most challenging mission. According to the synopsis, John Wick's anime movie will explore his impossible task which was referenced in the very first movie. The prequel will take place before the events of John Wick 1 and will center around the Baba Yaga killing all his major rivals in a single night in order to earn his retirement and settle down with his wife without fear of retaliation.

The John Wick franchise hasn't' shown much of Wick's life as a paid assassin, but that’s about to change thanks to an exciting new movie.

While the film's description doesn't mention Viggo Tarasov, the franchise's first movie indicates he was the one who gave John the task, which he didn't expect the deadly assassin to complete. Assuming the anime continues with this continuity, Viggo will hopefully make a well-deserved return, which will add more depth to his relationship with John. Most importantly, this setting will allow us to see just how dangerous the protagonist was in his heyday, as taking on so many high-profile enemies in a single night sounds even more impressive than his John Wick: Chapter 4 outing.

Therefore, the movie looks set to showcase John Wick in his absolute prime, and seeing how much more savage and versatile he is will be fascinating, with the anime aesthetic likely to make the brutality even more compelling.

The John Wick We Saw In The Movies Was No Longer The “Baba Yaga”

Despite Maintaining His Impressive Skills, John's Peak Came Before The First Movie

Despite being referred to frequently as the Baba Yaga throughout the series, John Wick earned the title before the first movie, with the version we see on screen being a slightly less threatening counterpart. That's not to say he isn't still extremely menacing, as John remains one of the best movie assassins of all time even after exiting his prime, but his notoriety suggests he was once even scarier. The fact that John Wick even took down skilled assassins like Zero, Cassian, and Ares after coming out of retirement is a testament to just how talented he really is.

He is undoubtedly still worthy of the name, but seeing the version of John Wick that earned this fearsome reputation will be a real treat.

However, it's unclear how long John was out of the game, and he may have at least lost a step. Additionally, the protagonist is either looking for retribution or trying to escape someone else throughout the movies, rather than being a highly efficient contracted killer who earned the Baba Yaga title in the first place. He is undoubtedly still worthy of the name, but seeing the version of John Wick that earned this fearsome reputation will be a real treat, and I can't wait to see how the anime portrays him during his peak days as an assassin.
