After a two season hiatus, Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio thinks now was the perfect time to return to MTV's The Challenge. The Challenge has found lots of success in bringing back familiar faces season after season, so some fans were surprised that Johnny, referred to as just "Bananas" mostly, had not been competing in the past few years. Bananas has won the most seasons of anyone in The Challenge's history and was considered the face of the show throughout a consecutive thirteen season run.

Following The Challenge: Ride or Dies kick-off special on Monday night, Bananas told Nany and her girlfriend Kaycee Clark gave him a "social security blanket."

Johnny Bananas Discusses His Challenge Competitors

The contestants and TJ Lavin line up in The Challenge season 38 Ride or Dies

The Challenge has been known to bring in many rookies in the recent seasons of the show, but Bananas still has a lot of history with many of the cast. While Bananas and Nany fit the mold of "Ride or Dies," as the season's theme implies, he questions some of the other casting decisions, saying, "When did Jordan and Aneesa become ride-or-dies?" He goes onto critique some rookie pairings, "If this was The Challenge: Friends With Benefits, maybe that would apply." Although some of his competitors may not fit the theme perfectly, Bananas still recognizes some of the dangers that could lie ahead for him, including his ex-girlfriend Morgan Willet's ex-boyfriend, Jay Starrett, and former rival, Devin Walker.

Bananas would have a lot to worry about if it weren't for Nany, who some would call the best social player in The Challenge history. While Bananas says, "Devin and I have never gotten along," his partner, Nany, has worked very closely with Devin in the past, even helping each other reach the finale of season 37, Spies, Lies, & Allies. Nany's girlfriend, Kaycee, also happens to be a close friend of powerhouse, Faysal "Fessy" Shafaat, who Bananas says is "a tough guy to compete against." It will be interesting to watch how Bananas navigates his own relationships along with his partner's on Ride or Dies.

Although Bananas has had big wins on The Challenge, he's also been known to take some pretty big losses. Perhaps his most memorable moment on the show, when he stole the winning prize from his partner, Sarah Rice, haunted him for years before he was finally able to win again on Total Madness. Fans of Nany are hopeful that she can get her first win after twelve seasons of competing, now that she's paired with the most successful competitor of all time. Fans of Bananas are just hopeful that his two season layoff will result in a triumphant return.

The Challenge: Ride or Dies airs Wednesday at 8pm EST on MTV.
