The Jurassic Park movie franchise has been around since the 90s and has received multiple sequels that have varied in quality and success, with the conflict between humanity and their prehistoric predecessors always ensuring a wild ride at the theater. But in a little-known comic story that picks up directly after the original Jurassic Park, Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler venture back into the maws of death to give fans the very first sequel to a juggernaut franchise still going strong today.
After the success of the first film in 1993, Topps Comics developed a trio of Jurassic Park comics, with them being some of the only options available for fans hungry for more dinosaur action, as both The Lost World: Jurassic Park's movie and sequel novel were still a few years away.
In Jurassic Park Adventures: Raptor, as well as its two direct continuations, Raptors Attack and Raptors Hijack, Jurassic Park received comic sequels that focused on a pack of Velociraptors forcibly trained to carry out vicious attacks while returning movie characters did their best to stop history from repeating itself.
Jurassic Park’s Comic Book Sequel Focused on Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and a Trained Pack of Raptors
Jurassic Park: Raptors/Raptors Attack/Raptors Hijack - 1993/1994 (Steve Englehart and Various Artists)
Set three days after the conclusion of the original film, this three-act comic story was hyped as “The Official Sequel to Jurassic Park!” and followed fan-favorite protagonists Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler as they help the United States Army clean up Isla Nublar by tracking down the remaining Velociraptors dangerously left roaming about. Of course, nothing goes as planned, and after discovering that a shady criminal benefactor named Rafael has tasked hunter George Lawala with capturing live raptors and transporting them off the island, Alan and Ellie begin an adventure that sees them fighting for their lives all over again.

Jurassic Park Introduced Giganotosaurus Way Before Jurassic World Dominion
The Jurassic Park franchise always has some new dinosaur on the loose, with Jurassic World's Giganotosaurus first premiering in the world of comics!
Clearly not learning anything from their previous experiences, Alan and Ellie argue that they’re still the most well-equipped to deal with the predicament they find themselves in, and after much death and dismemberment by the formerly captive raptors better known as Betty, Alf, and Celia, are able to survive this series in one piece.
Throw in appearances by Ian Malcolm, an inexplicably still breathing Robert “Clever Girl” Muldoon, a sinister sister company to InGen named Biosyn, and a few extra dinosaurs, like Rexy the T-Rex, and it wouldn’t take much to turn these comic-exclusive events into a memorable live-action film.
These Comic-Exclusive Events Could Still Be Used in Jurassic Park Films
Jurassic World Took At Least One Idea From These Comics
Though it’s unlikely that these comics will ever get a direct live-action adaptation, some of their more interesting elements — like having raptors being trained for nefarious purposes as similarly seen in Jurassic World — may still yet get their big screen debut, especially with Jurassic Park getting yet another sequel in July’s Jurassic World: Rebirth — a film that will hopefully sur all other sequels released thus far in the comic space or otherwise. Jurassic Park’s comic adventures may not be canon to its film universe, but that shouldn’t stop fans from checking out these silver screen-ready stories, all the same.
