Several days after the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert comes up with a parody of the film's post-credits scene. With the four-hour Snyder Cut finally out for a while now, the internet has been buzzing with discussions about it, including how it compares to its 2017 counterpart and what its release means for its future. Proof that it's been the talk of the town since it was released is host Stephen Colbert dedicating a full segment on it.
A little over three years since Justice League's theatrical cut was rolled out theaters, ers of the Release the Snyder Cut movement finally got what they've been demanding with the release of the HBO Max project. Production for the DCEU ensemble film was tumultuous due to several reasons all starting with Warner Bros. getting increasingly involved in the creative process. After Snyder stepped away from the movie due to a family tragedy, director Joss Whedon was hired to finish the film and instead changed it significantly. Now, the original filmmaker's vision for the movie is finally out, and considering what it took for it to see the light of day, it makes sense that everyone's talking about it.
That includes The Late Show with Stephen Colbert which re-created the Snyder Cut post-credit scene involving Lex Luthor and Deathstroke. In the skit, the host plays the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice villain as he meets with Slade Wilson. The whole bit lasted several minutes where they discussed a lot of absurd things — including Deathstroke's similarities to Deadpool and Deadshot, as well as, the confusing rights of the Marvel characters. Watch it below:
For what it's worth, when Deadpool was first introduced, he was too similar to Deathstroke causing people to think that Marvel writer Fabian Nicieza and artist Rob Liefeld did copy the DC assassin. Over time, however, Wade Wilson distinguished himself when he started becoming more quippy while Slade Wilson remained mostly serious. Now, both characters exist on their own, but this issue is still raised from time to time just like Colbert did this time. Interestingly, even with Deadpool being from Marvel, Ryan Reynolds, who plays the character in live-action could've still made an appearance in Zack Snyder's Justice League as Green Lantern.
Unlike the theatrical cut of Justice League, this post-credit scene was supposed to set-up Ben Affleck's standalone Batman film in the DCEU. Hence why Bruce Wayne's identity was revealed. At this point, however, there are currently no plans to continue Snyder's plans past Zack Snyder's Justice League. That said, the director is ready with a narrative plan in case he gets the green light for additional sequels.
