Earlier this year, DC Comics brought together a number of their top LGBTQIA+ characters into Justice League Queer. After debuting in this summer’s DC Pride #1, fans were left wondering when the team would leap back into action and in 'Tis the Season to be Freezin', on sale in print and digital December 14, the team leaps into action to save the world from Minister Blizzard.
Justice League Queer was one of the many concepts debuting in the Round Robin, a tournament held by DC to determine their next series. Although stories featuring the Flash, Firestorm and Vixen. 'Break the Ice' will star the JLQ, and comes from Andrew Wheeler and Meghan Hetrick.
In a special preview of 'Tis the Season to Be Freezin' provided to now the Justice League Queer must stop him. Readers get to see many of the team’s in action as they work to take down Minister Blizzard and save the world. The preview concludes with Syl learning there may be much more going on than previously thought and readers must wait until December to see how the action resolves.
An enormous step forward for representation, the return of Justice League Queer is a huge win after their Round Robin knockout, and now they must save the world from plunging into an eternal deep freeze. The preview shows the team working together as a well-oiled machine, ready to take down Minister Blizzard. The glimpses of the team shown in this preview show a new force to be reckoned with has arrived in the DC Universe.
DC has not revealed if there any plans for Justice League Queer after this one-shot, but the team is too intriguing, too powerful and too important to today’s world to let lay dormant - hopefully this mission will be the first step to these heroes getting a series of their own.
