Hideo Kojima has revealed he doesn't want to feature as many celebrities in his next title as he did in complained about the clunky controls and slow pace of the story along with the developer's trademark weird features. Yet, Death Stranding was an undeniable technical achievement, featuring a stunningly beautiful shared world.

One of the most notable things about Death Stranding was the large ensemble cast. Actors such as Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen played the protagonist and antagonist respectively. They were ed by the likes of Troy Baker, Guillermo del Toro, and Lindsay Wagner. Notable celebrities, including both Conan O’ Brien and Edgar Wright, also had brief cameos.

Speaking in an interview with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Kojima explained that his future projects will probably not contain quite the same number of celebrity cameos. This is despite the fact that the legendary developer believes that games like Death Stranding are bridging the gap between movies and video games. The main reason for the shift is down to the amount of work it creates for Kojima and his studio.

“Going forward, I don’t know if other games will work with celebrities. It’s quite a big burden on the creator."

Very little information is known about Kojima Productions' next game. However, the studio did tease fans with a cryptic tweet in February, dropped hints that he might be working with the game director in the future. He explained earlier in the year that he has held discussions with Kojima about the possibility of the two collaborating again on new projects.

Kojima's comments suggest that his latest game after Death Stranding is not that far into production. The fact that he is only tentatively talking about casting decisions indicates any games are likely to be in the early stages of development. Of course, the current COVID-19 emergency may also have an impact on the team's ability to continue working. Kojima Productions previously announced that they would not be attending the Game Developers Conference before the event was ultimately canceled in February. Fans should probably not expect to get too many further updates about future projects from Kojima and his team over the coming weeks and months.
