Season 5 of Legends of Tomorrow saw Sara Lance briefly considering a job offer from Rene "Wild Dog" Ramirez, but what exactly he wanted to hire the White Canary for was never explained. While this point is largely inconsequential in the wake of season's storyline, it does raise some interesting questions about life in Star City following Crisis on Infinite Earths that the Arrow series finale did not address.
Legends of Tomorrow season 5, episode 7, "Mr. Parker's Cul-De-Sac," revealed that Sara Lance had reached out to Rene Ramirez regarding a job offer, but was trying to hide that fact from her girlfriend, Ava Sharpe. It was ultimately revealed that Sara was trying to surprise the order-minded Ava, believing she wasn't happy living the chaotic life of a time-traveling vigilante, and that she had only gone to Wild Dog because she thought Ava would be happier if they settled down in a single time period. Thankfully for the crew of the Waverider, it turned out that life as a Legend had grown on Ava and that she knew that Sara's position as Captain made her happy. The two elected to stay with the Legends and the job offer was forgotten, without it ever being said what the job was.
The job offer becomes even more puzzling when one considers the state of Rene Ramirez's life at that point in time. Before Crisis on Infinite Earths, Rene was said to be running for a seat on the city council of Star City in Arrow, season 8, episode 4, "Present Tense." Six episodes later in the Arrow series finale "Fadeout," Rene was suddenly being set up to become Mayor of Star City following Quentin Lance's retirement. While the details were not spelled out, it seems likely that Rene never lost his job as Quentin Lance's assistant/Chief of Staff in the newly rewritten timeline following Crisis on Infinite Earths, since Quentin didn't die like he did in the Arrow season 6 finale. This would logically put Rene in a good position to become Quentin's successor, though the finale never confirmed that Rene won his mayoral bid. The fact that Rene had the authority to hire anyone suggests that he did become Mayor of Star City, but still doesn't indicate what job he was offering Sara Lance.
Given Sara's lack of job history that can be put on a resume (a fact that was hilariously acknowledged in Legends of Tomorrow's season 3 premiere) the mostly likely possibility is that Wild Dog intended to hire Sara as a personal bodyguard. While things had quieted down considerably in Star City following the Crisis and Rene could take care of himself in a fight, it's probable that he'd want a competent fighter and former vigilante watching his back, and that he'd be predisposed to paying it forward and giving the job to a friend of Oliver Queen. Another factor to consider is that with his good friend Dinah Drake leaving Star City, Rene might want another strong woman around to mentor his tween daughter and who better for that job than the original Canary?
Even if Rene wasn't elected mayor (a possibility, given that the Green Arrow and the Canaries pilot suggested he was running for his third term in 2040) he might still have been in need of a combat-ready nanny to help him with his daughter. He may also have been acting on behalf of Felicity Smoak, who was raising two children on her own while managing a tech firm in Star City at that same time. It's all water under the bridge now, of course, but it's fun to think that the leader of the Legends of Tomorrow might have wound up settling down to guard the next generation of young heroes.
