LEGO Star Wars features famous Star Wars characters, but only a few actors from the movies have returned to voice them, with the rest being soundalikes.
Anyone who has played Xenoblade Chronicles in English will have certain phrases memorized. This is because the characters constantly shout the same phrases over and over again in battle. By the end of a single playthrough of Xenoblade Chronicles, the player will have "I'm really feeling it", "Back Slash", and "Now it's Reyn time" burnt into their brain because they will have heard those words repeated endlessly over the course of the story. Those phrases gained memetic status, to the point where Xenoblade character Shulk used them in his Smash Bros. trailer and they are part of his taunts in the series.
Shulk's voice actor is Adam Howden, who has appeared in numerous games over the years, including Final Fantasy 14, Battlefield 1, and Horizon Zero Dawn. Howden provides additional voices in LEGO Star Wars, which gave the developers the chance to sneak a reference to Xenoblade Chronicles into the game. A clip ed to YouTube by Xenoblade Chronicles 3 coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022, so the reference to Shulk may be lost on a lot of people who play LEGO Star Wars.
The original Xenoblade Chronicles was seen as a cult classic for years. Shulk's eventual inclusion in Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U, as well as the positive reception to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 during the Nintendo Switch's launch year, shined a spotlight on the series Now it has become one of Nintendo's most important RPG franchises.
It's amazing to see Xenoblade Chronicles referenced in a LEGO Star Wars game, especially one as popular as this. The Star Wars franchise has been referenced many times in different video games, with the Final Fantasy series referencing Star Wars on many occasions, and it's great that the Star Wars games would include their own references to other game franchises.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
