A It: Welcome to Derry, which will air on HBO this year.

In addition to Welcome to Derry, there are several other non-horror Stephen King books. However, before these other projects get released, The Life of Chuck is starting its theatrical run this weekend, and could be one of the best King adaptations ever.

The Life Of Chuck Is In Theaters This Weekend

It First Premiered At The Toronto International Film Festival - And Was A Big Hit

The Life of Chuck, which is based on King's novella of the same name which was included in his 2020 story collection If It Bleeds, is finally hitting theaters this weekend. It's worth noting that the film is only getting a limited release this week, and will start its wide theatrical run next weekend. Therefore, if no theaters around you are playing The Life of Chuck this weekend, you won't have to wait too long to watch the movie.

The Life of Chuck won't be the kind of movie that a lot of King fans are used to, since it is not a horror film. Instead, the movie will follow Chuck, who gets a new perspective on life after finding out he has a brain tumor. The film will uniquely be told in reverse-chronological order, beginning with Chuck as an adult and ending with him as a kid. Tom Hiddleston will play the adult version of Chuck, while Jacob Trembaly, Benjamin Pajak, and Cody Flanagan will play younger versions of the character.

In addition to these actors, the cast of The Life of Chuck includes Mark Hamill, Karen Gillan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Matthew Lillard. Many fans have been waiting for The Life of Chuck to hit theaters since it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024, where it won the People's Choice Award. Reviews for the film have been great, and many critics have suggested that it could be one of the best Stephen King movies. Therefore, The Life of Chuck is definitely worth a watch.

Stephen King Is A Big Fan Of The Life Of Chuck

His Is A Good Sign For The Movie's Prospects

Ahead of the release of The Life of Chuck, King has been urging his fans to watch the movie in theaters. This may seem like common sense, but King has been critical of certain adaptations based on his stories in the past. For example, King famously hates Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, which is often regarded as one of the best horror movies of all time. Therefore, if King didn't enjoy The Life of Chuck, there's a chance that he would voice his opinion.

Thankfully, The Life of Chuck director Mike Flanagan has made several movies based on King's work in the past, and the two seem to have a great relationship. Since he is such a well-respected storyteller, people take King's recommendations seriously, so his praise Flanagan's most recent movie is a great sign. Based on reviews for The Life of Chuck, King is definitely not the only one who loves the movie. Therefore, The Life of Chuck is a Stephen King movie that you should look out for either this weekend, or when it starts playing in your city next weekend.
