movies like The Parent Trap, Mean Girls, and Freaky Friday, Lohan became a household name in the early 2000s. Although a beloved childhood star, the actor experienced something of a fall from grace in her early 20s as her struggle with drugs and alcohol led to several brushes with the law.
Now, however, Lohan is in the midst of something of a comeback, appearing in shows like Sick Note and Devil May Care. The actor is also slated to appear in Falling for Christmas, an Netflix Christmas romantic comedy about a spoiled hotel heiress who finds herself in the care of a blue-collar lodge owner after a skiing accident leaves her with amnesia. The first footage from the film was seen earlier this month in Netflix's 2022 Movie Preview, teasing a snowy winter setting for the movie and a release date at some point this year.
In addition to her Christmas movie, Lohan seems to be looking for new ways to connect with her fans and has just created her very own TikTok . Her first video serves as a quick announcement regarding her new presence on the social media app but also reveals that people everywhere have been saying Lohan's last name wrong for years. It's not "Lo-han," as most people thought, but is, in fact, pronounced "Lowen."

What was meant as a relatively straightforward post has actually caused quite a stir, with many surprised that they've been saying the Mean Girls star's name wrong for the better part of twenty years. One commented on the post, saying, "Have I been pronouncing your name wrong my entire life? I thought it was LoHAAAN." Another jokingly writes, "u pronounced ur name wrong." Evidently, many fans are surprised at the revelation, with one fan understandably questioning why the actor never sought the set the record straight about her name before.
What is perhaps most peculiar about the name reveal is that Lohan has actually pronounced it as "Lo-han" in the past, including in one video for W Magazine back in 2018. Of course, it should be said that not everyone has been pronouncing it as "Lo-han" and, on a number of occasions, the actor has been introduced using the "Lowen" pronunciation, including in one interview with David Letterman in 2013. While Lohan's own past pronunciations of her name make it somewhat unclear whether people have actually be saying it wrong all this time, the recent TikTok certainly suggests that it should be pronounced "Lowen" from now on. Lohan, then, s the long list of celebrities whose names fans have been saying wrong, including Amanda Seyfried, Ariana Grande, and Camilla Cabello.
