Warning! SPOILERS for Lockwood & Co.!
After Lockwood & Co.’s popular debut on Netflix, a significant question is whether it will get a season 2. Especially with the volatility of TV show cancelations of late, even recent news and updates can swiftly change, making any story’s survival uncertain. Until Netflix releases Lockwood & Co.’s viewership numbers for its first week on the streaming platform, which could provide more insight into the show’s chances at another season, little is assured about its future.
Available To Stream On Netflix
Lockwood & Co. tells the story of three teenage ghost hunters in London, in a world where the young are the only ones who can sense the undead. Corporate agencies have moved into the business of hunting ghosts, but Lockwood and Co. is the only real ghost-hunting team on the show run solely by paranormal teenagers. Headed up by the mysterious but dashing Anthony Lockwood (Cameron Chapman), the small agency includes the sardonic and thorough George Karim (Ali Hadji-Heshmati) and the new recruit, Lucy Carlyle (Ruby Stokes). They tackle hordes of undead, attempt to solve the mystery of a woman’s murder, and face off against their company rivals, the Fittes Agency.
Is Lockwood & Co. Season 2 Happening On Netflix?
There are currently no guarantees whether Lockwood & Co. will be renewed for a season 2. Despite the inconsistency in Netflix’s ratings, Lockwood & Co.’s completion rates and weekly standings with Netflix’s viewership could give some indication on whether it will be renewed, meaning the show’s future will likely remain in doubt for a while. However, until then, the show is scoring better on Rotten Tomatoes than other ghostbusting stories, which is still promising for a potential season 2.
Lockwood & Co. Season 2 Release Date Prediction
However, despite the uncertainty surrounding season 2 of Lockwood & Co., it is possible to estimate when the story’s continuation could be released. Unfortunately, the timeline will still be long, even if a season 2 is guaranteed. Based on the production schedule of season 1, which began in 2021, it could be another two years before the release of season 2, as that’s how long it took for the initial episodes to drop. It is worth noting that while it might not take as long to approve, shoot, and produce another season of Lockwood & Co., 2024 is likely the earliest the season could land on Netflix.
Which Characters Can Return In Lockwood & Co. Season 2?
Hopefully, a season 2 of Lockwood & Co., with its dark YA tone similar to a season of Locke & Key, would see the return of several established characters, including Ruby Stokes as Lucy Carlyle, Cameron Chapman as Anthony Lockwood, and Ali Hadji-Heshmati as George Karim. The likely returning ing cast includes Ivanno Jeremiah as Inspector Barnes, Luke Treadaway as The Golden Blade, Morven Christie as Penelope Fittes, and Ben Crompton as Julius Winkman. Even though his fate was left uncertain at the end of season 1, Michael Clarke as the Skull could make a comeback in a season 2, as he has a more prominent role in the later Lockwood & Co. books.
What Lockwood & Co. Season 2's Story Could Be About Based On The Books
If Lockwood & Co. is renewed for a season 2, they won’t be starved for material to develop. There remain the dangling plot threads from season 1 of the Netflix TV show to be resolved, including the fate of Lockwood’s parents and whatever secret is hidden in the forbidden room. But beyond that, a second season has three more books to mine for the story, including The Hollow Boy, The Creeping Shadow, and The Empty Grave. This could mean that season 2 would depict a new rash of hauntings, protests in London, a mystery surrounding the Fittes Agency and the Brixton Cannibal, and a new character ing Lockwood & Co. named Holly Munro.
