The MCU's Loki has garnered a massive following despite beginning as a villain, giving rise to the character's and highly anticipated Disney+ series. With the impending series, though, one question remains: will Loki's children be given any screen time?
Since the dawn of the between Thor and Loki, the film fails to add to the Marvel character's backstory before setting him up to be killed by Thanos. In the Marvel Comics, Loki Laufeyson is so much more than comic relief and scheming, with his strange (yet undeniably intriguing) family tree. But when fans find out about Loki's children, they may think it best that the MCU avoids them entirely.

In Marvel Comics, the strangest of Loki's FIVE children are Jormungandr and the Fenris Wolf. What makes Jormungandr and the Fenris Wolf bizarre is their sentient animal appearances, as well as their origin. Jormungandr is a serpent that strikes fear into the hearts of all Asgardian gods, including the King of Asgard himself, causing Odin to banish the creature to the depths of Earth's oceans. While on Earth, the giant serpent continues to grow to the point where it can circle the entire planet (leading it to its role in the mystical apocalypse known as "Ragnarok").
Similar to his brother, the Fenris Wolf is also a fear-inducing creature. Besides from the Wolf's gigantic size, its strength is immeasurable. At one point in the comics, Odin and the other gods test the Wolf's strength by placing it in a variety of bonds and chains. But no matter how strong the bonds/chains are, he is still able to dismantle them. Beyond the fact that Jormungandr and the Fenris Wolf are sentient creatures, the main reason fans of MCU's Loki are kept in the shadows regarding their existence is because of their scandalous origin.
One may be wondering: how is Loki, a humanoid god, the father of sentient animals? The answer lies in his fraternizing with Angerboda, a giantess and witch of Jotunheim. It is believed that the reason Angerboda is able to give birth to two sentient creatures is because she and Loki both possess the ability to shape shift. So, why a serpent and a wolf? Fans have deduced that it can mean only one thing: Loki and Angerboda have a thing for role-playing in bed, and their children can't help but spill their secrets. The Disney+ series may give Loki a new, female form, but the show will most likely not bring Loki's children to light, considering the number of questions Disney would have to answer. Poor kids.
